Joyce Lea Bandy Saunders Lemmond

Joyce Lea Bandy Saunders Lemmond, age 87, of 3162 E. Highway 27 in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.

A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Anita Sain officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Joyce was born June 14, 1926 in Catawba County to the late George F. and Una Henry Bandy.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Thurman Saunders, and brother, Wayne Bandy.  She worked for Talon Industries and later for Alda Crowe.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Lemmond of the home; one son, Darryl Saunders of Iron Station; two daughters, Wanda Ballard of Lincolnton and Sharon Smith and husband Rodney of Denver; stepdaughter, Pam L. Burris and husband David of Holden Beach; three grandchildren, Hope Lineberger and husband Shane, Brian Smith and wife Deanna, and Stephanie Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Alli Lineberger, Lily Claire Smith, and Carter Smith.

Romona C. Myers

Romona C. Myers, 64, passed away at her home on October 29, 2013

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thiele; one son, Daniel Benton; and one brother, Larry Myers.

She is survived by two brothers, James Flowers and Fremon Myers and one sister Arthie. She is also survived by her five remaining children Annette Siler, Kitina Morgan, Lynn Benton, Jessica Richardson, and James Hinkle; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A gathering of friends and family will be on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the home of her daughter Annette in Vale at 2 p.m.


Peggy Lou Willis Petrea

VALE — Peggy Lou Willis Petrea, age 63, of 7198 Ed Willis Road in Vale, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. today at Hulls Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Redding officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.  Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Hulls Grove Baptist Church.

Peggy was born April 19, 1950 in Lincoln County to the late LeeRoy and Inez Willis Willis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Riley Petrea.  She worked as a custodian for Lincoln County Schools.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Costner and Jeff Costner and wife Loretta, all of Vale; two brothers, Eddie Willis of Cherryville and Larry Willis of Vale; mother, Inez Willis of Vale; three sisters, Carolyn Turner, Catherine Burton, and Linda May, all of Vale; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hulls Grove Baptist Church, 6263 W. Highway 27, Vale, NC  28168.

Emma Ethel Foster Waldrop

Emma Ethel Foster Waldrop, age 94, of Kindred Nursing and Rehab, and formerly of N. Flint Street in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hulls Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. this at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Waldrop was born October 10, 1919 in Gaston County to the late Clarence and Della Caroline Hullender Foster.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie W. Waldrop, one sister Bessie Reynolds, one great-granddaughter, Chasity Spivey and one great-great-granddaughter, Taylor Peyton.  She worked at Cochrane’s Furniture and later at Wendy’s in Lincolnton.  Emma was a member of River View Baptist Church and was also very active in the foster children program.

She is survived by one daughter, Bobbie Spivey and husband Charles of Lincolnton; a son, Kenny Waldrop and wife Belinda of Davis Station, S.C.;  two sisters, Hazel Suttle of Ga. and Edna Carpenter of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Barry Spivey and wife Denise, Tina Tindall, Caroline Spivey Hollar, Christy Lindsey and husband Daniel, Becky Waldrop, and Samantha Parimuha and husband J.R.; nine great-grandchildren, William (Will) Lane, Brad Lane and wife Lisa, Amy Kiser and husband Jason, Charity Spivey, Justin Beard, Wesley Beard, K.C. Lindsey, Reed Parimuha, and Adyson Parimuha; five great-great-grandchildren, Corey Carden, Johnny Carden, J.P. Peyton, Haleigh Beard, and Chloe Beard; and her other special children, Cathy, Joanne, Maryann, Jamie, Margaret and Sue.

Mildred Louise Heavner Finger

Mildred Louise Heavner Finger, 89, of Lincolnton died October 31, 2013.

A graveside service will be held November 4, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
