“Coffee and Conversation”
Lincolnton’s Downtown Development Association will present its “First Friday Coffee and Conversation” event 8-9 a.m. at the Cultural Center in Lincolnton. Guests this month will be Times-News Managing Editor Michael Gebelein and Publisher Jerry G. Leedy.

Yard sale benefit
Howards Creek Community Center, 494 Howards Creek Sch. Rd., will host a yard sale benefit 1-6 p.m. for 5-year-old Leukemia patient Austin Lute. For more information or to donate items, call Wanda Sigmon at (980) 429-5630. Proceeds will assist with medical expenses.

Yard sale
Anthony Grove Baptist Church, 1801 Lincolnton Hwy. in Cherryville, will host a mission fundraiser yard sale 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. with household items, clothing, sports equipment, home decor and more.

Craft show
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4051 King Wilkinson Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a craft show 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Life Center with Christmas ornaments, baked items, wreaths, birdhouses, biscuits, soup, sandwiches and more.

Free auto checks
North Brook Baptist Church, 7421 Flay Rd. in Cherryville, will offer free auto checks for oil, antifreeze, windshield wash and tires 9 a.m to 12 p.m. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (704) 435-4471.

Free coat handout
United Way of Lincoln County and the UW Teen Board will hand out free coats 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the office, 211 W. Water St. in Lincolnton. For more information, call (704) 732-8055.

Humane Society event    
The Humane Society of Lincoln County will host “We Love Our Pets” shopping event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at 2422 Country Club Rd. in Lincolnton. Items such as pet coats, sweaters, bowls, collars and toys will be available by donation only. Hot dogs will also be for sale. All proceeds will benefit spay/neuter.

Bluegrass/BBQ festival     
First Baptist Church High Shoals will host a Bluegrass & BBQ Fall Festival 11 a.m. with “Heartstrings” and “Crimson Red.” Admission and food is free.

BBQ dinner
Pleasant Grove UMC, 2069 N.C. 182 in Lincolnton, will serve a BBQ dinner (drive-through or dine-in) 4-7 p.m. Cost is $8. Call-ahead orders will be taken after 3 p.m. by calling (704) 735-7511. Proceeds will be used to feed local hungry and help send the minister to the Holy Land.

BBQ fundraiser 
Bethlehem UMC, 6753 N.C. 182 in Cherryville, will host its annual BBQ fundraiser 4-8 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. Dine-in and carry-out options will be available. Proceeds will benefit church missions and the building fund.

LHS reunion     
The Lincolnton High School Class of 1988 will hold its 25th reunion 6 p.m. at the Lincoln Country Club, 2052 Country Club Rd. in Lincolnton. For more information, call (704) 735-2250.

LHS reunion

Church event
Trumpeter Melvin Morrison will peform special music 11 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 1725 Southside Rd. in Lincolnton.

Church luncheon
Daniels Lutheran Church, 3170 Reepsville Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a luncheon 12-2 p.m. A $6 donation is suggested. Proceeds will benefit the church courtyard development.

Spaghetti fundraiser
Crowell Memorial UMC, 4018 Killian Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a spaghetti lunch fundraiser 12-2 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. For more information, call (704) 735-8889.

Church concert
The Alexander Community Concert Series will present the Charlotte A Capella Show Chorus in concert 3 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter by-the-Lake, 8433 Fairfield Rd. in Denver. Special Olympics event
Any Special Olympics athletes in Lincoln County interested in playing basketball are asked to meet 3-4:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Charter Lincolnton Campus, 133 Eagles Nest Rd. TUESDAY
Lions Club     
The Lincolnton Lions Club will meet 7 p.m. in the Elm Classroom of Lincoln Medical Plaza, McAlister Rd. in Lincolnton. Members and guests planning to eat in the CMC-Lincoln cafeteria should arrive 30 min. early. Guest speakers will be Abby McCall, Lincoln County teacher for the blind/visually-impaired, Cleveland County teacher for the blind Yvonne Franz and Tammy Loukos, Lincoln/Iredell County social worker for the N.C. Division of Services for the Blind.
