Apple Queen visits Battleground Elementary
Contributed / Lincoln County Apple Queen Erica Miller recently visited Battleground Elementary School to read to the kindergarten classes. She read to the students and talked to them about how she is going to pursue her education. Miller also spoke to the students about Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), which she has recently been diagnosed with and has started a Facebook page, “Hots for Pots,” where people can send her messages and order personalized painted shoes where the profits will be donated to National Autonomic Research Center. Since August she has raised $1,500 for the cause. Miller doesn’t charge a specific amount for the shoes, but will take whatever the client decides to give. “It just makes me feel like I’ve actually done something, to know the money I’m donating is going to research,” she said.
