The volleyball teams of Lincoln Charter and North Lincoln were both knocked out of their respective state playoffs on Saturday.
The Eagles lost at Swain County 3-0. Swain County (23-7) advanced to play Hayesville (14-11), a 3-0 winner over Hiwassee Dam. Lincoln Charter finished its season 12-6 and fourth in the Southern Piedmont 1A Conference.
The Knights lost at China Grove Carson 3-0. China Grove Carson (30-0) advanced to play Fred T. Foard (16-8), a 3-2 winner over Weddington. North Lincoln finished its season 14-11 and fifth in the North Piedmont 3A/4A Conference.
No other details were reported on either game.
LOCALS PARTICIPATE IN REGIONALS: A doubles team from East Lincoln, Lincolnton and West Lincoln each participated in the NCHSAA 2A Western Regionals at Gardner-Webb University on Friday.
Brielle Mattner and Molli Dallin of East Lincoln were the only team to win a match on Friday. Saylor Whitesides and Kiera Hughey of Lincolnton lost 6-0, 6-0 to Taylor Snowdon and Emma McLeod of Brevard in their opener, and Skylar Greer and Kylee Leonhardt of West Lincoln lost to Mattner and Dallin 6-0, 6-0.
Dallin and Mattner fell to Riley Zopp and Cassandra Monday of Draughn in the quarterfinals.
Serah Haley of North Lincoln participated in the 3A regionals. Nothing was reported on how she fared.
LINCOLN CHARTER 1, HIGHLAND TECH 0: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles picked up a Southern Piedmont 1A Conference win on Friday.
Mattie Groff scored on an assist from Malakai Partridge as Lincoln Charter outshot Highland Tech 22-6. Isaiah Smith had two saves in goal.
The Eagles (11-8, 3-5) travel to Cherryville today, and wrap up the regular season hosting Pine Lake Prep on Wednesday.
