Parade     
West Lincoln High School will host its annual homecoming parade 5:30 p.m. on Cat Square Rd. in Vale.

Fitness walk
Gaston College will host a “Walk for Fitness” 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with Gayla Greene at the Lincoln Campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton, as part of the college’s third annual Total Wellness Week. The group will meet in the main building’s lobby. Blood drive   
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host a blood drive 4:30-7 p.m. at West Lincoln Family Medicine, 4429 N.C. 27 in Vale.

Singles club
The New Beginnings Singles Club of Lake Norman, a social group of singles over 50 including residents in Lincoln County, will meet 6:30 p.m. at the Captain’s Galley Restaurant in Mooresville. Visitors are welcome. For information, call (704) 528-3864.

Widowed Group   
Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Gaston County Parks & Recreation Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas, for a program on locating activities happening around town. Lincoln Quilters
The Lincoln Quilters will meet 7 p.m. at the Citizens Center in Lincolnton. Jean Winchester will present the program “Quilts of a Different Color.” Visitors are welcome.

AARP meeting 
The local AARP 3682 will meet in the Senior Center’s multi-purpose room at Gaston College’s Lincoln Campus, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton, at 11 a.m. Angie, from Lincoln County Hospice, will present the program. New members are encouraged. Call (704) 276-2153 for questions.

FRIDAY
Fall yard sale    
Ethelene’s Annual Fall Yard Sale will take place 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 2600 Keever Dairy Farm Road in Lincolnton. Proceeds will go to help with missions for Salem Baptist Church. The yard sale will be rescheduled if it rains.

Tractor parade  
West Lincoln High School, 172 Shoal Rd. in Vale, will host a tractor parade 8:30 a.m. in celebration of homecoming week.

Quilt Show   
Piecemakers Quilt Guild will host “Quilted Treasures 2013 Quilt Show,” a two-day event 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Citizens Center in Lincolnton. There will be demonstrations, painting, door prizes, vendors and more. Cost is $5. Children under 12 are free. Walk-A-Thon
Iron Station Elementary School’s PTA will host its annual “Get Your Feet to the Beat” Walk-A-Thon to raise funds for a new front playground. LHS 1973 reunion

Theatre Guild play

Poetry show
Lincolnton Poetry will host guest poet Jessie Carty, author of six collections and adjunct writing instructor at UNC-Charlotte, 7 p.m. at the Cultural Center in Lincolnton. Poets are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and read poems with a Halloween theme. Treats will be served, and open mic will follow the show.

Yard sale

Church yard sale     
The United Methodist Women of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church, 6073 Flay Road in Cherryville, will host an indoor yard sale from 7 a.m.-until. Proceeds will go to missions.

Church fall bazaar

Toys for Tots kickoff     
A Toys for Tots kickoff event will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Howards Creek Veterans Center, 508 Howards Creek School Road in Lincolnton. Attendees will learn about the program and can sign their children up to receive toys for Christmas. There will be fire trucks, sheriff cars, vintage vehicles, National Guard vehicles, a Toys for Tots train, jumpy house, hot dogs and Santa. The Miss Lincoln County Marine Corps League queens will also make an appearance. All past, present and future marines are welcome.

Church chicken-pie supper 
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church will host a supper 11 a.m.-until at the Family Life Center, 4051 King Wilkinson Road in Lincolnton. Chicken pie, chicken dumplings and stew beef will be available. Sides include green beans, cole slaw, potatoes, pinto beans, rolls, assorted desserts, tea, coffee and soft drinks. Pageant      
The Miss Gastonia Scholarship Association will host the Little Miss Gastonia Pageant at the Gaston School of the Arts, 825 Union Road in Gastonia. The competition for ages 0-6 years begins at 11 a.m., followed by the competition for ages 7-19 at 2 p.m. The event is an official preliminary for the North Carolina Outstanding Little Miss State Pageant.
