Sarah Jane Armstrong Carpenter
Sarah Jane Armstrong Carpenter, age 99, of 3979 Killian Road in Lincolnton, died on Friday, October 11, 2013.
Her funeral service was 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Crowell Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Freida Hopson officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carpenter was born August 30, 1914 in Lincoln County to the late Joe and Ida Jane Lingerfelt Armstrong. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John “Everett” Carpenter; a daughter, Av-Neail Hager; 12 brothers and sisters; and two great-great-grandchildren. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Moore of the home; four grandsons, Scott Avery, John Russell, Michael Russell, and Ronnie Russell; three granddaughters, Susie Russell, Donna Schlesinger, and Tommie Russell; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11-great-great-grandchildren.

Frank Chapman Jr.
IRON STATION — Frank Chapman Jr., age 79, of Iron Station passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at his residence.
Born September 4, 1934 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Summey Chapman and the late Bertha Seagle Chapman. Frank was a member of Crouse United Methodist Church; retired from NC Spinning Mills and enjoyed working with his horses.
In addition to his parents, two brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include Wife of 45 years, Mildred Hoyle Chapman of the home; two sons, Kenny Chapman of Lincolnton, Steve Chapman of Crouse; five daughters, Alice Duncan of Maiden, Robin Chapman of Lenoir, Renee Chapman of Lenoir, C.C. Hancock of the home and Michelle Counts of Iron Station; four sisters, 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and care giver, Ray Correl of Iron Station.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his residence at 2710 Southmont Road, Iron Station, NC.

Wilma Fay Cloud Waggoner
MAIDEN — Wilma Fay Cloud Waggoner, age 74 of Maiden, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
Born December 21, 1938 in Knoxville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Ashley and Margaret Wilson Cloud and was a member of West Side Baptist Church in Maiden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Wayne Waggoner; brother, John Cloud; and sister, Beaulah Morrison.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Angel Waggoner Blancher and son, Robert Michael Cloer of Maiden; sisters, Clara Miller of Knoxville, Tenn., JoAnn Reagan of Knoxville, Tenn., Edda Mirade, of Newport Ritchie, Fla.
A service of remembranace will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 1 p.m. at West Side Baptist Church in Maiden with Pastor Bud Painter officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at West Side Baptist Church.

Bernard James Maher, 75, of Cherryville died October 9, 2013.
A service of remembrance will be held October 15, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Blair Fraley Courtyard of St. John’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends October 15, 2013 at the home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Burial will be private.
