Nominations are currently being sought for the Business and Professional Women’s Club 2013 Lincoln County “Woman of the Year” award, handed out every November.
Presented since 1958, the award’s intent is to recognize and honor an “outstanding area woman for her contributions of outstanding service, leadership, personal example, character and dedication in the private sector,” noted a BPW-Lincolnton press release.
Nominees must be a resident of Lincoln County. Additional requirements stipulate that a woman is eligible to win only once, with the areas of contribution considered to include church, civic and community, family and profession. The winner should be or have been actively engaged in business or a profession.
Those interested in submitting a nomination have until Nov. 1 to do so. A typewritten statement outlining the nominee’s qualifications and contributions, the reason for proposing the nominee and other pertinent information is required.
People nominating a person must also include their own contact information, including name, address and phone number.
Three additional letters of recommendation may also be sent in. All information will remain confidential, the release said.
Materials should be mailed to P.O. Box 533, Lincolnton, N.C., 28093, with attention to “Woman of the Year” BPW-Lincolnton.
The winner will be named during the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet, taking place 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Laboratory Mill.
