Dig Pink for breast cancer

PUMPKIN CENTER –– North Lincoln’s volleyball team was looking to do something good for the community.
The Knights chose to Dig Pink.
The school on Tuesday doubled its senior night as a night to raise money and awareness for breast cancer, and coined the evening Dig Pink.
The team held a bake sale, sold T-shirts, and had a contest for the student body that awarded a pre-paid Visa card to the student wearing the most pink at the game.
The Knights defeated Statesville 3-1, but it wasn’t all about winning on Tuesday.
It was about giving back.
“Our girls wanted to do something as a community service project,” North Lincoln volleyball coach Lynn Rhyne said.
The event wasn’t just a volleyball production, however. Rhyne said the team received help from faculty, administration and even other sports and coaches.
“Everybody pitched in on this,” she said. “We had a lot of the football players here, the football coaches here. It was kind of a collaboration of everybody. It’s been really good.”
