North Lincoln’s volleyball team will host a Dig Pink event on Tuesday to raise awareness for breast cancer.
The Knights, who host Statesville in a North Piedmont 3A/4A Conference game beginning with junior varsity at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, will have a baked goods and T-shirts for sale to raise money for awareness and research. There will also be a “Pinkest Knight” contest, which awards a pre-paid Visa card to the individual who shows the most school spirit and dresses in the most pink. The school is also donating a portion of ticket sales to the cause.
Tuesday is also Senior Night for the varsity team.
SD-7 TOURNAMENT: The Southern District 7 Athletic 2A Conference volleyball tournament will begin Saturday at 3 p.m. at Newton-Conover. Admission is $6.
The semifinals and finals will be held Oct. 14-15 at Newton-Conover.
There are two games left in the regular season: Tuesday and Thursday. The NCHSAA state playoffs begin Oct. 19.
LAKE NORMAN 3, NORTH LINCOLN 1: At Lake Norman, the Knights fell in a North Piedmont 3A/4A game 19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-19 on Thursday.
Savannah Dishman had four aces and 14 kills, Liza Sipe had 11 kills, Chandler Keller had 22 assists, Lyndsi Pound had five blocks and eight digs and Olivia Loeffler added 11 digs.
North Lincoln (4-8 NP3A/4A) hosts Statesville today.
BESSEMER CITY 3, LINCOLN CHARTER 0: At Bessemer City, the Eagles fell in a Southern Piedmont 1A Conference game 25-27, 24-26, 30-32.
Erica Mullis had seven kills, Madi NeeSmith had 11 kills, Hunter Mullis had three aces and 16 assists and Christina Famulari had five kills and four aces for Lincoln Charter.
The Eagles (12-4, 7-4) host Christ the King on Tuesday. Their JV team won 2-1. Katie Pendergrast had five kills and four aces, Miranda had two kills and five aces and Lindsey Osborne added seven digs.
LINCOLN CHARTER 4, CHRIST THE KING 0: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles picked up a non-league win on Friday.
Daniel Moore scored two goals, Danny Aguilar added a goal and Noah Brock scored a goal. Aguilar and Dakota Kuczenski had an assist each.
The Eagles (10-4-0) are at Pine Lake Prep today.
SD-7 TOURNAMENT: The SD-7 individual girls tennis tournament will be held Tuesday-Wednesday at Maiden. The top six singles and doubles finishers of the tournament will advance to the 2A West Regionals, held Oct. 18-19 at Gardner-Webb University.
The dual-team regular season ended last week, with Newton-Conover winning the conference championship and Maiden finishing second. Both teams earned automatic bids to the NCHSAA state dual-team playoffs, which begin Oct. 15.
West Lincoln finished fourth, East Lincoln fifth and Lincolnton sixth.
