Knights JVs knock off Cougars

LINCOLN TIMES-NEWS
Caleb Sherrill ran for 176 yards a pair of touchdowns to help North Lincoln’s junior varsity football team to a 24-18 win over visiting Alexander Central on Thursday.
Sherrill also had three 2-point conversion runs, and scored on a 49-yard run with 8:46 left for the win.

WEST LINCOLN 35, BUNKER HILL 8: At West Lincoln, Noah Marsh accounted for three TDs and ran for over 100 yards in the win.
Marsh threw a TD pass to Blake Brown and ran for two more. Dalton Brooks scored on a TD run and Brandon Schesny added a TD run for the Rebels (4-1, 2-0 SD-7). Brooks also ran for over 100 yards.
Tyler Hice, Julian Brown, Jake Clary and Hunter Church stepped up on defense.
C.J. Bryant scored for the Bears.

BOYS SOCCER
LINCOLN CHARTER 3, CHERRYVILLE 1: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles topped the Ironmen in a Southern Piedmont 1A Conference match on Wednesday.
Danny Aguilar scored on a penalty kick and added an assist, Chase Ballard scored on an assist from Malakai Partridge and Daniel Moore scored for Lincoln Charter. Thomas Le Francis scored a goal for Cherryville.
The Eagles (9-4-0, 2-2-0) travel to Pine Lake Prep on Monday.

LINCOLNTON 2, MAIDEN 0: At Lincolnton, the Wolves stayed unbeaten in SD-7 play with the win. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton (6-0-2 SD-7) travels to East Lincoln (2-5-1 SD-7) on Monday.

NEWTON-CONOVER 3, EAST LINCOLN 1: At Newton-Conover, the Mustangs fell in a SD-7 match. No other details were reported.
East Lincoln (2-5-1 SD-7) hosts Lincolnton (6-0-2 SD-7) on Monday.

SOUTH IREDELL 8, NORTH LINCOLN 0: At South Iredell, the Vikings shut out the Knights in a North Piedmont 3A/4A match. No other details were reported.
North Lincoln (0-8-0 NP3A/4A) hosts Alexander Central (2-5-1 NP3A/4A) on Monday.

BANDYS 3, WEST LINCOLN 0: At West Lincoln, the Rebels were swept in straight sets in the SD-7 contest on Thursday. No other details were reported.
West Lincoln (4-8 SD-7) hosts West Caldwell (1-11 SD-7) on Tuesday.

MAIDEN 3, LINCOLNTON 0: At Lincolnton, the Wolves were shutout by the second-place Blue Devils in a SD-7 game. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton (1-11 SD-7) travels to East Lincoln (4-8 SD-7) on Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS
WEST LINCOLN FINISHES FOURTH IN SD-7 RACE: The Rebels finished SD-7 conference play and the regular season by finishing fourth with a 4-3 record, ahead of fifth-place East Lincoln (3-4) and sixth-place Lincolnton (2-5).
Only the top two teams (Newton-Conover, Maiden) earn an automatic spot into the NCHSAA state 2A dual-team playoffs, which begin on Oct. 15. There are two wildcard spots, however, up for grabs.
The SD-7 individual conference tournament begins on Tuesday and will be held at Maiden.

GIRLS GOLF
NL FINISHES FIFTH IN LEAGUE MATCH: At Westport C.C., the Knights shot a 148 and finished fifth in a NP3A/4A match on Wednesday.
Alexander Central won with a 120, followed by Lake Norman (132), South Iredell (141), Mooresville (141), North Lincoln, North Iredell (154), West Iredell (168) and Statesville (176).
Mary Prunier shot a 46 to lead the Knights. She was joined by Grace Clarke (49), Callie Oakes (55), Karleigh Morrison (53) and Abbey Stilwell (54).
Overall the Knights are fifth with a cumulative stroke total of 1,054. Alexander Central leads the conference at 841.
