Lincoln County Senior Center Director Marti Hovis welcomed a room full of local dignitaries and senior adults to an open house celebrating National Senior Center Month. Proclamations were issued by both the county and the city naming the month of September as Senior Center Month.
Local leaders presented the proclamations in recognition of older adults and the programs offered at the Senior Center.
In honor of the special occasion, N.C. Rep. Jason Saine, R-Lincoln, presented a flag that had been flown over the North Carolina Capitol building.
A representative from U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry’s office was also on hand for the event. McHenry’s staff had previously donated computers to the center. Senior testimonials were shared by senior center participants Pinkie Mosteller and Dot Swart, and musical entertainment was provided by Logene Solberg and Guy Rudisill.
Tours of the center were provided, with refreshments also served by volunteers.
