More than two years after a thief targeted a Lincolnton church, out-of-county officers have made an arrest, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
Charlotte police apprehended Raymond Ravond Camp, 29, of 3622 Gustar Court in Charlotte, on Wednesday.
Police transported him to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Friday morning, and he was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.
Deputies said Camp broke into First Christian Church, located at 735 Buffalo Shoals Road, on March 17, 2011.
The suspect stole speakers and CDs valued at $1,300 from the facility, a report said.
Deputies collected blood samples at the scene and entered them into the State Crime Lab’s DNA database.
County detectives received a hit on the DNA on Wednesday and issued warrants for the suspect, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Camp is charged with one felony count each of breaking and entering a place of worship, larceny of breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.
The suspect, who remains behind bars, has a felony breaking and entering conviction in Mecklenburg County from 2005, according to the North Carolina Department of Correction website.
