MONDAY
Pottery benefit
Rising Sun Pottery, 209 S. Academy St. in Lincolnton, will host its 16th Annual Empty Bowl Benefit for Hospice Palliative Care Lincoln County 5-7 p.m. The homemade soup bowls will be $10 apiece. TUESDAY
Career Expo
The Advanced Manufacturing Industry Partners and Gaston County Schools will host Career Expo: Discover the New Face of Manufacturing 2:30-6 p.m. For the public at the Gastonia Conference Center, 145 S. Marietta St. in Gastonia. Widowed Group

Mentoring Moms

Quilt Guild

Art competition

BBQ sale
The Lincoln County Democratic Party will host a BBQ fundraiser 12-4 p.m. at its facility headquarters on W. Water St. in Lincolnton. Cost is $8. Individuals may dine-in or carry-out.

Piano concert
The Lincoln County Concert Association will kickoff its new season with 13-year-old child piano prodigy Umi Garrett in concert 7:30 p.m. at the Cultural Center in Lincolnton. Church bazaar
First UMC, Academy St. in Lincolnton, will host GoTeam Church Bazaar 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Spaces are available for $25. At least 75 vendors will be on-hand with crafts and food. Breakfast/yard sale                                                                                                              Springs East Church of God’s WOM women’s group, Springs East Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a breakfast and yard sale 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone interested in renting a $5 space can call (704) 735-8839 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

5k race    
The 2nd Annual Run the Race 5k, part of the Town of Maiden’s Fall Festival, will be 9 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, 409 E. Main St. in Maiden. Country Fest
The 2013 Stanley Country Fest will start 11 a.m. on Main St. in Stanley. Various musical groups will perform including Carroll Cooke, We R Forgiven and more.

Chicken pie day
Asbury UMC, 3097 Asbury Ch. Rd. in Lincolnton, will host their annual chicken pie day starting 11 a.m. with dine-in or carry-out options available. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Sodstock
The 4th Annual Sodstock event will start 12 p.m. at 1890 HW Farm Rd. in Maiden. Cost is $25. Camping spots are $10. Music will start 4:30 p.m. with performances from C&M Traveling Show, Jonathan Burchfield and the group 20/20.

Bike event
Cherryville Golf & Country Club’s 5th Annual Kare About Kids Fundraiser will host a poker run starting 1 p.m. with registration at 12:30 p.m. BBQ plates will be for sale. Activities will also include a silent auction, classic car show and entertainment.

No-kill meeting                                                                                                                  “Make Lincoln County No-Kill” will meet 2-3:30 p.m. at the Sally’s YMCA in Denver. Blessing of the  Animals
A “Blessing of the Animals” event will be 2-5 p.m. in downtown Lincolnton. On-hand will be an adoption clinic, vendors, a place for rabies vaccinations and a pet constume contest. The event is free.

Pastoral anniversary 
New Providence Full Gospel Church, 947 George Brown Rd. in Crouse, will host a 15th Pastoral Anniversary celebration 4 p.m. for Founder/Apostle Eugene Brooks.

Diabetes course
Register now to attend the six-week course “Living Healthy with Diabetes” at Crouse UMC, 3311 Crouse Sch. Rd. in Crouse. Scholarship Pageant

Golf tournament
