‘Trash tax?’ What ‘trash tax?’
Why, if the “trash tax” has been repealed by our Democrat majority City Council, are the Republican candidates still running on the platform to “trash the tax?” Their trash cans are still out there as if the tax still existed. They had their trash cans at their Apple Fest booth, so I decided to ask them that very question. Why were they running on a platform that no longer exists and is totally deceptive? Their response was that they got the tax repealed. I beg to differ! The citizens of Lincolnton got the tax repealed. Based upon the red trash cans around town, you would think that the assessment was still a reality.
Here is the reality as I see it. If the Republican candidates are willing to deceive the public into thinking that the tax still exists and by voting for them, the tax will go away, what will they try to deceive the citizens of Lincolnton about if they are elected?
If we can’t trust them when they are campaigning, how can we trust them if they are elected? In a day and age when many find it hard to trust politicians, why would residents vote for anyone that bases their platform on deception? It is dirty politics!
And if that is not enough, look into the original agreement between the city and the county concerning the 911 service, the animal shelter and more, that was thwarted by our Democratic council members!
