Deputies have located a teen girl with autism whom they said went missing Thursday from her Lincolnton home.

Alexa Brianna Ikard, 18, of the 3400 block of East N.C. 27, was found at a residence around 9 a.m. Friday on Southmont Road, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

Ikard, who has autism and is also mentally-challenged, was located unharmed and returned safely to her parents, according to an agency press release.

Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Johnson said Ikard wandered from her home and walked across area railroad tracks before stopping at the Southmont home.

The Sheriff’s Office first issued a press release to local media outlets late Thursday afternoon, asking for the public’s help in finding Ikard.

Deputies said a number of concerned citizens contacted the agency soon after, which helped officers to quickly locate the teen.
