Helen Cline Campbell
Helen Cline Campbell, age 88, of Denver, died on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at St. Matthews United Church of Christ with Rev. Ray Jachowski officiating. Burial was private. The family received friends following the service.
Mrs. Campbell was born May 2, 1925 in Catawba County to the late Ernest Otho and Callie Brotherton Sherrill Cline. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joe Bandy Campbell. Mrs. Campbell worked as a real estate broker and owned The Pirate Chest in Triangle.
She is survived by two sons, Joel Campbell and wife Judy of Denver, and Kenneth Campbell of Lincolnton; two daughters, Beverly Page and husband Jimmy of Lincolnton, and Kathy Thames and husband Buddy of Nelson, VA; two sisters, Lois Snipes and Josephine Little and husband Fred, all of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Matthew Wayne Dill, age 24, of 303 Bryant Cooper Lane in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Cape officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.
Matthew was born April 25, 1989 in Lincoln County to the late Jerry Wayne and Virginia Caswell Dill. He worked as a grocery clerk.
He is survived by his paternal grandmother, Hazel Dill of the Home; and two uncles, Larry Dill and Bill Land, both of Lincolnton.

Richard L. Kennedy
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Mr. Richard L. Kennedy, age 81, of 12 Stone Meadow Road, Greenville, S.C. died Monday, September 16, 2013.
His funeral will be 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Myron Williams and Rev. Dr. Tony Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. A memorial service will also be held at Morningside Baptist Church in Greenville, S.C. at 2 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013.
Mr. Kennedy was born on March 14, 1932 in Fitzgerald, Georgia and was the son of the late Edward J. and Marguerite Garcia Kennedy. He was retired from Kennedy & Wulfhorst Law Firm in Denver, NC.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife, Sarah G. Kennedy of the home; two sons, Richard L. Kennedy, Jr. of Charlotte, and Bryan S. Kennedy and wife Lisa G. Kennedy of Wilmington; and one granddaughter, Kendall Kennedy.

Naomi ‘Duck’ Rhyne Ramsey
Mrs. Naomi “Duck” Rhyne Ramsey, age 95, of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, September 17, 2013.
Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Pisgah United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Judy Eurey officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Naomi was born April 18, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late William Thomas and Sarah Ann Rash Rhyne. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude “Shorty” Charles Ramsey, sisters Flossie Loftin, Grace Leonhardt, Verna Beal, Mildred Whitesides, and Ernest Gates, and brothers Floyd Rhyne and Wilson Rhyne. She retired from J.P. Stevens Company where she worked as a winder. Naomi loved her church and her family.
She is survived by a number of much loved nieces and nephews.

Carl Linsie Smith
Carl Linsie Smith, 87, a lifelong resident of Fallston passed away September 14, 2013 at Brian Center in Lincolnton.
Born June 24, 1926 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Menry Lee Smith and Ethel Lola Murray Smith.
He was owner and operator of Carl Smith Motors.
Mr. Smith was a member of Fallston Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Hicks Smith; daughter, Diana Smith Dixon; two brothers, Hubert Smith and Milton Smith and one sister, Menola Smith Williams.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jane Smith of Toledo, Ohio; daughter and husband, Cheri and George Crotts of Kernersville; two sisters, Ethelee Smith Wright and Naomi Smith Dedmon of Fallston; seven grandchildren and great grandchildren; also, longtime coworker and friend, Willie Foster.
The family expresses heart felt appreciation to the wonderful Brian Center management and staff for their friendship and loving care provided to Mr. Smith during the past seven years.
Visitation will be 1:15 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. today at Fallston Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with the viewing in the church sanctuary at the same time. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Fallston Baptist Church with Rev. David Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 342 Jim Cline Rd., Fallston, NC 28042.

Marion Lippard Staton
Marion L. “Punkin” Staton, 86, of Seattle, Wash. passed away on August 6, 2013. She was born November 20, 1926 in Lincolnton, and the daughter of the late Lester and Eula (Martin) Lippard. Marion married James R. Staton on April 7, 1952 in Seattle, Wash.
She is survived by a son, Brian Staton and wife Gini; two granddaughters, Audrey Jo Staton, Emily Schwan and husband Ryan; grandson, Timothy Staton; great granddaughter, Sadie Schwan; brother, Ernie Lippard and wife Carol; sister-in-law, Peggy Lippard and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband; son, Gregory L. Staton; and a brother, Charles “Charlie” Lippard of Lincolnton.
She was a domestic engineer who loved to cook and bake for friends. Her specialties were pound cakes and “punkin” bread. She loved the color purple and was an avid baseball fan. Marion was an extremely positive person with a great sense of humor and she loved spending time with her family. She will be warmly remembered by all those she came in contact with.
