Juan Campa

Juan Campa, 69, of Vale passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at his residence.

He was born December 9, 1943 in Donna, Tex. to the late Jacobo Campa and late Antonia Reece Rodriguez. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Gastonia, and a retired weaver with the textile industry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Rudy M. Campa and Richard Campa, and a brother Martin Penna.

Survivors include wife of 54 years, Ruby Artis Campa; sons, Johnny Ray Campa, Martin Campa and wife Kim, Tony Campa and wife Teresa; daughters, Angie Gates and husband Jr., Kathy Kelley and husband Patrick, Andrea Beachum and husband David; brothers, Victor Campa, Merced Campa; sisters, Frances Rodriguez, Andrea Garcia, Emma Campa Vasquez, Marta Campa Cedillo,           Alicia Campa Garza; grandchildren, Tasha Campa, Brett Campa, Brandy Gates, Chanda Quicklel, Daniel Campa, Sarah Gates, Ashlee Kelley, Jordan Campa, Ryan Kelley, Amberly Campa, Lacey Campa, Sierra Beachum, Hunter Campa, Kaden Campa, Jacob Beachum; great-grandchildren, Dylan Campa, Victoria Campa, Skylar Campa, Raygan Phillips, Kolton Phillips, Adreyan Benard, Emiliegh Benard, Bryson Shook, Kyle Quickel, Joy Campa, Connor Campa.

A Memorial Service will be held today at 4 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Lincolnton. Pastor Andy Royals will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Lincolnton. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton.

Jimmy Clyde Cook

Mr. Jimmy Clyde Cook, age 72, of 2443 Brook Hollar Drive, Crouse died Saturday, September 14, 2013.

His funeral will be 3 p.m. today at South River Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Chapman and Rev. James Cape officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. today prior to the service at South River Baptist Church.

Mr. Cook was born April 16, 1941 in Lincoln County and was the son of the late Raymond and Blanch White Cook. He was also preceded in death by two children, Jimmy and Penny Cook.  Mr. Cook was retired from the construction business.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann Cook of the home; two daughters, Trudy Beam and husband, Guy of Cherryville and Tamie Gates of Lincolnton; one brother, Raymond Cook of Lincolnton; two sisters, Mary Beard of Crouse and BessieRae Mathis of Vale; four grandchildren, Michelle Beam, Lacy Beam, Justin Elmore and Gus Elmore; three great-grandchildren, Joe, Harley and Carli; four step-children, Teddy and Pam Clark of Newton, David and Elaine Clark of Mt. Holly, Chris Clark of the home and Sherry Ingle of Lincolnton; two step-grandchildren, Joanna and Frankie Ingle; four step-great grandchildren, Tony, Michael, Brianna and Brandon.

Thomas Wilson Garrison Sr.

Mr. Thomas Wilson Garrison Sr., age 78, of Lincolnton died Friday, September 13, 2013.

His funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Garrison was born on July 1, 1935 in Gaston County and was the son of the late Paul D. and Florence Stines Garrison. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Hovis Garrison.  Mr. Garrison was a US Navy veteran having served in the Korean War and was an accountant with Garrison Accounting Service.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Garrison, Jr. of Mooresville and Ronald M. Garrison of Lincolnton; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Garrison of Lincolnton and Connie G. Bare of Lincolnton; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

George Holland Payseur

CROUSE — Mr. George Holland Payseur, age 73, of 129 George Payseur Road in Crouse, died on Saturday, September 14, 2013.

His funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Harry Splawn officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Payseur was born January 24, 1939 in Gaston County to the late Charles Jerome and Marry Beulah Whitesides Payseur.  He worked as a frame builder at Ethan Allen for 44 years.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Ann Dellinger Payseur of the home; sons, Holland Payseur of Gastonia and Tim Leonhardt and wife Beth of Crouse; two grandsons, Timmy Dale Leonhardt and wife Jessica of Crouse and Eddie Laughlin of Gastonia; sister, Mary Splawn and husband Harry of Bessemer City; and two brothers, Judson Payseur of Lincolnton and Donald Payseur of Fallston.

Clara Emily Boyles Raines

Clara Emily Boyles Raines, age 36, of 668 Story Woods Road in Lincolnton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy McAbee officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Raines was born January 11, 1977 in Wharton, Tex. to Allen and Debbie Boyles. She was a housewife.

Emily is survived by her husband, James Kenneth Raines of the home; two daughters, Jennifer and Becky Raines of the home; parents, Allen and Debbie Boyles of Rural Retreat, Va.; sister, Jessica Potts and husband Tony of Lincolnton; sister, Laura Curry and husband Tim of Jacksonville, Fla.; nieces, Natalee Drawdy and Lydia Potts, both of Lincolnton; nephew, Davion Hickson of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandmother, Shirley Smith of Lincolnton; and aunts, Edith Dellinger of Lincolnton, Suzette Holbrooks of Denver, and Linda Cathcart and husband Dennis of Sarasota, Fla.

James W. Starr, 88, of Fairfax, S.C. died September 12, 2013.

Colleen Wilson Null, 90, of Newton died September 13, 2013.

A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Claremont.

James Miller Sr.

James David Miller Sr., 80, of Maiden passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at his residence.

The funeral was held Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden. Burial will follow at Maiden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden.

Floris Roma Picard Concato

Floris Roma Picard Concato, 92, of Lincolnton, died September 12, 2013.

A mass will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church. Burial will be held at a later date in Mass.
