Suspect arrested in East Lincoln Christian Ministry break-ins

Staff Writer

Nearly three days after deputies identified a woman accused of breaking into a Denver organization twice in one morning, officers have apprehended her.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Sarah Elizabeth Leatherman’s arrest on Sept. 9 after detectives said they learned she was the same woman recorded on video surveillance last month at East Lincoln Christian Ministry.

Deputies located Leatherman around 10 a.m. Thursday morning at a residence on the 7700 block of Skyline Drive in Sherrills Ford, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Leatherman lives on the 3900 block of East Maiden Road in Maiden, according to an agency press release.

The suspect, along with another individual whom deputies have yet to identify in the non-profit break-ins, accessed the Denver facility at 2:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, taking more than $1,000 in items, the bulk of which included winter coats, deputies said.

The suspects allegedly entered the building by way of an access door.

Video surveillance of the incident was posted to the law enforcement agency’s Facebook page and on  news media sites.

Detective M. Stamey located Leatherman this week after pursuing multiple tips in the case, the release said.

Leatherman faces two felony counts each of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering and remains in the county jail under a $3,500 secured bond.

Her first appearance is set for today.
