East Lincoln Pregnancy Care Center will host a Walk for Life Saturday at Denver Baptist Church in an effort to raise funds for area families and celebrate a decade-and-a-half of business.
Organization officials and other community members will walk to collect money for those needing various items and services pertaining to the care and nourishment of babies both before and after birth.
The facility provides for women, children and men, a press release said.
Proceeds from the walk will go toward the purchase of necessities such as baby food, diapers and furniture as well as medical procedures such as pregnancy testing.
The center additionally just added free counseling services for women who have recently undergone an abortion.
Last year alone, the Pregnancy Care Center, located at 477 North N.C. 16, provided nearly $40,000 in services.
Facility employees routinely care for more than 2,000 people each year, the release said.
The two-mile walk will commence 8:30 a.m. at Denver Baptist Church’s West Campus, located at 3545 North N.C. 16, and will take place rain or shine.
Registration will kickoff at 8 a.m.
According to the event website, the Pregnancy Care Center’s target fundraising goal this year is $20,000. More than $11,500 has already been collected.
