After a 3-0 start to its season, East Lincoln topped the Associated Press 2A state football poll for the second straight week.
The Mustangs, who received 10 of the 13 possible first-place votes, topped North Lincoln 34-7 last week to stay undefeated and win its 19th straight game, dating back to last year.
Reidsville, Elizabeth City Northeastern and Washington received the other top votes.
The Mustangs were followed by Reidsville (3-0), Carrboro (3-0), Northeastern (3-0), Monroe (3-0), North Rowan (3-0), Southwest Onslow (2-1), Madison County (3-0), Washington (2-1) and Kinston (3-0).
The poll, as voted on by a panel of prep sportswriters statewide, is released on Tuesdays during the regular season.
EL GIRLS WIN CONFERENCE MEET: At Murrays Mill, the Mustangs had a perfect score of 15 points Monday to win the season’s first SD-7 conference meet.
Frances Massey (20:36.01), Meagan Rowles (22:56.36), Elizabeth Sisk (23:24.18), Maggie Foley (23:34.05) and Shelbee Knopf (23:46.94) finished first-fifth for the Mustangs.
Team scores were: East Lincoln 15, Maiden 51, West Lincoln 104, Bunker Hill 115, Lincolnton 124, West Caldwell 145, Bandys 151.
Lincolnton’s Jada Blake finished sixth at 23:52.64 and Adriana Compton of West Lincoln came in ninth at 25:48.44.
In the boys race, Bandys won the event with a 45. East Lincoln was second with a 68, followed by West Lincoln (74), West Caldwell (116), Maiden (127), Newton-Conover (134), Bunker Hill (146) and Lincolnton (154).
East Lincoln’s Parker Whitley was the county’s top finisher in fifth at 19:01.67. He was followed by teammate Ridge Fenske at 19:10.90. Jonathan Weber for West Lincoln finished eighth (19:31.06) and teammate Justin Beam was ninth at 19:33.49.
BANDYS 3, WEST LINCOLN 0: At Bandys, the Rebels fell in a SD-7 game on Tuesday. Set scores were 19-25, 21-25, 15-25. No other details were reported.
West Lincoln (1-8, 1-4) travels to West Caldwell on Thursday.
MAIDEN 3, LINCOLNTON 0: At Maiden, the Wolves were swept in a SD-7 game 17-25, 12-25, 7-25. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton (0-8, 0-5) hosts East Lincoln on Thursday.

NL FINISHES FIFTH IN LEAGUE MATCH: The Knights shot a 144 Monday to finish fifth in an eight-team North Piedmont 3A/4A match hosted by South Iredell.
Alexander Central won with a 120. The Cougars were followed by Lake Norman (135), Mooresville (141), South Iredell (142), North Lincoln, North Iredell (161), West Iredell (168) and Statesville (176).
North Lincoln’s scorers were: Mary Prunier (47), Callie Oakes (49) and Karleigh Morrison (48).
