A Gaston County man sits behind Lincoln County bars after county drug officers said they located methamphetamine and various prescription pills not prescribed to the suspect inside his vehicle on Monday.
Investigators first observed suspicious activity near the Lincolnton Wal-Mart pharmacy, prompting them to follow a vehicle to U.S. 321, where the Sheriff’s Office said deputies initiated a traffic stop in a southbound lane just before Exit 20.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies said they seized methamphetamine and precursors for the drug along with prescription pills including oxycodone.
Investigators arrested the driver, Daniel Evan Garrison, 27, of 3365 Philadelphia Church Road in Dallas, and charged him with one felony count each of possession of methamphetamine and possession and distribution of a precursor chemical along with one misdemeanor count each of simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remains in the county jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
Monday was not Garrison’s first drug-related offense, state public records revealed.
The Department of Correction website showed convictions for possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and a DWI in Gaston County in 2008.
