Evelyn Cloer Anthony, age 85, of Lincolnton, died on Thursday, August 29, 2013.
Her funeral service was 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jon Mann officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Anthony was born July 20, 1928 in Burke County to the late Thomas Swain and Alma Isabelle Shrum Cloer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Tooney” Anthony; two sisters, Jean McGinnis and Carolyn Boston; and one brother, Everette Cloer. She worked as a furniture inspector for Burris Industries.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Anthony and wife Pam of Cherryville; one brother, Don Cloer and wife Phyllis of Fla.; one sister, Barbara Proctor and husband Dewitt of Conover; and two grandchildren, Heidi Anthony-Cash and Wesley Anthony.

Cherryville – Mr. Roy A. Beam, 51 of 1778 Cherryville Hwy, passed away Sunday, September 01, 2013 at his residence.
Born September 28, 1961 in Gaston County, he was a son of Guy R. Beam, Jr. and Frances Gregory Beam both of Cherryville. He was a self-employed mechanic, avid hunter and a race car driver.
Roy was preceded in death by a son, Casey L. Greene and brother, J. Mark Beam
In addition to his parents he is survived by a son, Jacob M. “ Jake” Beam and fiancée, Becca of Waynesville; step-son, Ryan Mull; two grandchildren, Shy Greene and Ash Greene; brothers, Alan Wayne Beam and wife, Brenda of Burlington, Benny Beam of Aiken, SC and Guy Beam, III and wife, Trudy of Cherryville; nieces and nephews, Michelle Beam, Lacey Beam and Jonathan Beam; great nephews, Joe and Harley; aunt and uncle, Peggy and Jim Eaker of Asheville; lifetime friend, Kim Brittain Putnam and faithful friend and dog Buddy.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Stamey~Cherryville Funeral Home Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ina Mildred ‘Millie’ Hearn Dillard
DENVER — Ina Mildred “Millie” Hearn Dillard, 71, of Denver passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Summit Place, Mooresville.
She was a teacher in the Greenville S.C. County Schools for over 30 years. Millie received her bachelor’s degree from Howard College in Birmingham, Ala., and received her Master’s in Education from Furman University in Greenville, SC. Millie was an accomplished basket weaver and also assisted adults in acquiring their GED. Millie sang in the choir at Augusta Road Baptist Church in Greenville, S.C. for over 40 years and was also a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She was born on December 12, 1941 in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Charles Aubrey and Florence Conner Hearn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Borden Dillard and a daughter, Bonnie McCord. Millie is survived by her children, Beth Lippard and husband, Mark and Brian Dillard and wife, Sharon; sisters, Mary Alice Heard and husband, Allan, Nancy Clark, Marcia Stovall and husband, Gerald, Suzanne Lusk and husband, Fred; brother, Charles Hearn and wife, Lerma; son-in-law, Derek McCord and eight grandchildren.
A service for Millie was held on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation for family and friends followed the service.

Max Dean Eaker Sr.
Max Dean Eaker, Sr., age 84, of Cherryville died August 30, 2013 at Peak Resources.
Max was born August 22, 1929 in Lincoln County, a son of the late Doras Grady and Bertha Willis Eaker. He was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Max was a U.S. Air Force MP and Korean War Veteran.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Carpenter Eaker in 2012, two brothers, Bill Eaker and Glenn Eaker and one sister, Hilda Parker.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Daniels (Dave) of Matthews; five sons, Max Eaker Jr. of Lawndale, Michael Eaker (Linda), Gary Eaker, Tim Eaker, and Roger Eaker all of Cherryville; one step-granddaughter, Dana Roark, of Mountain City, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, September 3, 2013 at 4 p.m. with Rev. Roy Byers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.

Phyllis Ann Enloe, age 70, of Lincolnton passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Brian Center in Lincolnton. She was born in Lincoln County April 29, 1943 to the late Samuel Edwards and Geneva Roten Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Enloe of Gastonia, and one daughter, Crystal Enloe of Lincolnton.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 3 p.m. at RiverView Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Ricky Brown will officiate.

Kathleen ‘Baby Kate’ Sondra Hopper
ROCK HILL, S.C. — Kathleen “Baby Kate” Sondra Hopper, infant daughter of Ty and Courtney Hopper, peacefully passed away August 30, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Kate, born July 6, 2013 is survived by two brothers and a step-brother, Keegan and Micah Hopper, and Brandon Beam, Lincolnton. Maternal grandparents are Ned and Kathy Thomas, Tucson, Ariz. and Court and Lynn Hall, Tucson, Ariz. Paternal grandparents are Jessie Hopper, Crouse and Robert Lee Wilson, Lincolnton. A wonderful host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends were touched by the life of Kate.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King Church in Shelby. Pastor Tony Hopper from Word of Life Christian Ministries, Gastonia and Pastor Vernon Moore from Christ the King Church will be officiating the service.

She was born September 7, 1920 in Lincoln County to the late Oscar Goins and Mary Rudisill Goins.
She was a member of Gainesville Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hurt.
She is survived by one son, Larry Hurt and his wife Becky of Vale, one grandson, Todd Hurt of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and one sister, Ramona Whitesides of Holden Beach, S.

MAIDEN — Glenn Howard Price, age 74, of Maiden passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
Born July 27, 1939 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Clyde Alphonso Price and the late Emma Jane Jenkins Price. Glenn was a member of May’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Maiden; worked in the timber industry and was retired from Delta Apparel.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Clifford Price and niece, Patricia Huffman Gentry preceded him in death.
Survivors include one brother, Charles Price and wife, Sandra of Maiden; two sisters, Betty Huffman Ballew and husband, L.D. of Maiden; Geraldine Hahn of Newton; one sister-in-law, Jeanette M. Price of Maiden and four nieces, Debbie Campbell; Gaye Kurz; Belinda Hahn; Melinda Hahn.

DENVER — Mackie James Spencer, 61, passed away at his residence on August 30, 2013.
A native of Gaston County, he was the son of Vivian Melrose Harstin Spencer and the late Carl Henry Spencer.
Mackie was an 18 year veteran, serving in the United States Air Force and United States Navy. He was a member of Revival Tabernacle in Stanley.
He is survived by his mother Vivian Spencer of Denver; sisters, Elaine Dyer and husband James of Iron Station, Linda Nixon and husband Jim of Denver; and brother, Carl Spencer and wife Liz of Denver.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Spencer.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carothers Funeral Home Chapel in Stanley with Pastor John D. Mayberry officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with military honors provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
