Grace Lee Hicks Ewing, age 97, of Lincolnton died on Sunday, August 25, 2013.
Mrs. Ewing was born September 20, 1915, in Catawba County to the late James Ephriam and Cora Clippard Hicks; she was a member of Boger City Baptist Church and was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, her husband, J.B. Ewing; son, James Dorsey Ewing; two sons-in-law: Howard Wiseman, Bill Coulter; three brothers, Buford, Abee and Cordell Hicks; four sisters-in-law, Orene Hicks, Nellie Hicks, Kate Knight and Ruth Peeler preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory two daughters, Doris Ewing Coulter and Beth Ewing Wiseman; three grandchildren, Jamie Ewing, Michael Wiseman and wife Anna, Natalie Wiseman; sisters-in-law, Pearl Hicks, Sue Jones; brother-in-law, Clyde Knight Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews and the Pochet family .
The funeral service was held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Boger City Baptist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Bill Bigham officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family received friends, prior to the service, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Boger City Baptist Church, Lincolnton.

Helen Marie Wyatt Holmes
Helen Marie Wyatt Holmes, age 84, of Cardinal Health Care, and formerly of Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Anthony officiating.
Mrs. Holmes was born November 23, 1928 in Raleigh County, W.Va. to the late Robert E. and Ethel G. Wyatt. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Holmes. She worked as a waitress.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis Anthony of Hartwell, Ga. and Butch Anthony of Hokes Buff, Ala.; two daughters, Debbie Burgess of Lincolnton and Diane Filmore of Gulf Shores, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Luria Boyt Wilson Taylor
Luria Boyt Wilson Taylor, age 96, of 826 South Grier Street of Lincolnton, passed from this life to life everlasting in Christ Jesus on August 25, 2013.
Luria was born December 7, 1916 to the late Charlie and Ella Reinhardt Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seldon Taylor; sons, Gene and Larry; sisters, Lydia Mosteller, Georgia Stone, Bessie Carpenter; brothers, Arlo and Russell Wilson and daughter-in-law, Jane Noles Taylor.
Luria is survived by sons, Ted Taylor of Lewisville, Tex. and Joel Taylor of Lenoir and daughters, Cathy Taylor of the home and Dot Taylor Heavner of Vale; sister, Tots Fincannon; thirteen grandchildren, Cindy Jackson, Kelly Taylor, Talina Short, Michael Pressley, Kim, Brandon and Jimmy Dallas Taylor, Jessie Parker, Michael Allen, Donna and Dan Heavner and Donnie Knight; twelve great grandchildren, Wesley Jackson, Haley Richardson, Kristen Webb, Monica Miller, Steven Short, Jessica and Lilly Parker, Dillon Clack, Orlando and Gabby Pahuamba, Cody and Aydan Heavner, Alea Rowell and Patrick Edge; five great-great grandchildren, Zoey Jane Webb, Makala Miller, Steven Jr., Benjemin, and Autumn Short.
Mrs. Taylor was a Gold Star Mother whose son Gene died in the Korean War. She worked in textiles until the age of 80 staying active, although at a slower pace until a few weeks before her death. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who left a legacy of love, hard work and faith.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Riverview Baptist Church located on River View Road in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made in their mother’s name to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, N.C. 28150.

Frances Taylor Wilkinson
Frances Taylor Wilkinson, 72, of Maiden passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at her residence.
She was born October 25, 1940 in Lincoln County to the late Russell Taylor Sr. and Bonnie Lynn Taylor. She was employed with Hardees in Denver for 14 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Russell Taylor Jr. and Carlee Taylor; sister, Katherine Smith; and a great niece, Caitlyn Reed Painter; and a great nephew, William Gerome Cooper.
Survivors include, husband of 44 years, George Grady (Buggs) Wilkinson Jr. of the home; sister, Evelyn Williams of Lincolnton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden. The Rev. Donald Cline, Rev. Raymond Hamrick and Rev. Charles Ingle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 2:45 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden and at other times at the home of Gerry and Monica Cooper, 4636 Anderson Mtn. Rd., Maiden, NC 28650. Pallbearers are Todd Painter, Rahn Painter, Gerry Cooper, Kevin Caldwell, Mark Yancey, and Willie Bass
