Wilson survives first round of cuts

LINCOLN TIMES-NEWS

C.J. Wilson’s dream of playing in the NFL is getting closer to becoming reality.
The Chicago Bears on Sunday cut 14 players and Wilson, a Lincolnton native, wasn’t one of them, the Bears reported on their website.
Chicago must cut one more player by 3 p.m. Tuesday to get to the league’s 75-player limit heading into the final preseason game. Its final cut will come before the 5 p.m. Saturday deadline when its roster must be trimmed down to the regular-season limit of 53.
Wilson had four tackles and an interception in the Bears’ 34-26 win at Oakland on Friday. The undrafted free agent out of N.C. State and 2008 graduate of Lincolnton High had two solo tackles and assisted on two others. He is third on the team with 10 total tackles in three preseason games.
