Lincoln Charter earns first wins over EL in soccer, tennis

Lincoln Charter made history not once, but three times on Tuesday.
The Eagles earned wins over East Lincoln in junior varsity and varsity boys soccer and in girls tennis, things the school that opened in 1997 had never done before, according to Lincoln Charter Athletic Director Daniel Schmitz.

BOYS SOCCER

LINCOLN CHARTER 2, EAST LINCOLN 1: At East Lincoln, the Eagles came up with their first win in school history over the Mustangs.
Danny Aguilar scored in the 38th minute on an assist by Cory Martin and Daniel Moore added an unassisted goal in the 56th minute to give Lincoln Charter a 2-0 lead.
Michael Hernandez put East Lincoln on the board in the 62nd minute but the Eagles were able to shut the door.
Isaiah Smith had five saves in goal for Lincoln Charter and Tony Cardwell three saves for East Lincoln.
The Mustangs outshot the Eagles 15-14.
Lincoln Charter (1-0) travels to Bandys on Thursday. East Lincoln (0-1), which had its match at Southlake Christian on Monday postponed, travels to Shelby on Thursday.

JV SOCCER

LINCOLN CHARTER 5, EAST LINCOLN 0: At East Lincoln, the Eagles shutout the Mustangs. Stephen Aguilar, Ryan Putukian, Blake Artavia, Josh Watson and Tanner Bluhm scored with Matthew DeLoach, Seth Frady, Watson and Putukian having the assists. James Manning had the shutout in goal.

VOLLEYBALL

FRED T. FOARD 3, WEST LINCOLN 0: At Fred T. Foard, the Rebels fell in their season opener on Monday. No other details were reported.
West Lincoln (0-1) hosts North Lincoln today.
