TODAY
Church open house
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4057 King Wilkinson Rd. in Lincolnton, will host an open house for an after school camp 5:30-6:30 p.m. for ages 5-12.

THURSDAY
School supply event
Communities in Schools, in partnership with United Way of Lincoln County and Wal-Mart and other area nonprofits and churches, will handout backpacks with school supplies to area residents in need 1-3 p.m. at the Farmers Market in Lincolnton. Parents must bring their children in order to collect items and will be asked to stay in their vehicles and drive up to the market, where volunteers will take down their information.

“Paint & Sip”
Gallery 27, 808 W. N.C. 27 in Lincolnton, will host a “Paint & Sip” event 7-9 p.m. with owner Stacey Pilkington-Smith. All skill levels are welcome. Cost is $20 for gallery members and $25 for non-members. Attendants must be 21 and up and are asked to bring their own wine bottle. Canvas, paints, paintbrushes and easels will be provided. BBQ chicken sale
Poplar Springs AME Zion Church, 1205 Buffalo Shoals Rd. in Lincolnton, will host its annual BBQ chicken sale today and Saturday. For more information, call (704) 735-0960.

LCS Board meeting
The Lincoln County Public Education Foundation’s Board of Directors will meet 12 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room of the School Board Office on N. Generals Blvd. in Lincolnton. Church cookout
Greater Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 1009 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will host a back-to-school cookout 4 p.m. with crafts, hamburgers, prizes, a water slide, free school supplies and more.

Ladies conference  
The Women’s Ministry of Providence Baptist Church, 1110 E. Pine St. in Lincolnton, will host its 12 Conference 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. Saturday followed by lunch. The guest speaker will be former Lincolnton native Dr. Victoria Sowell Dunston, of Agape Word Church in Florida and Victoria Dunston Ministries.

Singing Convention

Yard sale / car wash

Soccer registration

Grace Baptist Church, 495 Horseshoe Lake Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a school supply giveaway 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for struggling families. Supplies and refreshments will be in the fellowship hall. The outreach event is sponsored by the church and Offering Hope Ministries of Mooresville.

Grape Stomp Festival
WoodMill Winery, 1506 John Beam Rd. in Vale, will host their annual Grape Stomp Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with food, more than 80 vendors, complimentary wine tasting, winery tours, children’s activities, grape stomp contest and more. Summer bash
Crouse Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will host an “End of Summer Bash” 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the department, 2764 W. N.C. 150 in Crouse. Activities will include music, a dunking booth to dunk a fireman, food, corn hole, water games and more. Individuals have until 10 a.m. the day of the event to register for corn hole. BBQ/Chicken benefit
A BBQ pork and chicken benefit dinner will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Hebron UMC, N.C. 27 in Vale. Proceeds will benefit local residents John and Laura Davis, whose home was destroyed by recent flooding. Dine-in and carry-out options will be available.

Gabriel reunion
The annual Gabriel reunion will be 12 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Terrell, N.C. Attendants are asked to bring a covered dish for lunch. All descendants of Alli Gabriel are invited.

 Animal shelter meeting
An informational meeting about making Lincoln County Animal Shelter a no-kill shelter will be 3:30-5 p.m. at the Charles R. Jonas Library, 306 W. Main St. in Lincolnton.

Kiser reunion

Church anniversary

Antioch UMC, N.C. 150 in Crouse, will host its annual homecoming celebration with an 11 a.m. service with guest speaker Butch Ross. A covered dish lunch will follow the service. Community luncheon
