John Columbus Artis
John Columbus Artis, age 56, of 2821 Wood Gate Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Dwayne Pearson officiating. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the Sheets Cemetery in North Wilkesboro. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Artis was born September 20, 1956 in Hardee County, Fla. to the late Walter Lee and Elsie Dove Artis. He worked as a lab tech at Timken.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Wayne Artis of the home; daughter, Christy Pearson and husband Matt of Maiden; five sisters, Shelby Jean Craw of Fla., Ruby Campa of Vale, Myra Matthews of S.C., Edith Reinhardt of Vale and Sue Brooks of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Rebekah Chapman and Lilly Pearson.

Johnny Wayne Boyd
Johnny Wayne Boyd, 64, of Supply, formerly of Lincolnton, died peacefully at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick on Friday, July 26, 2013.
He was born on May 24, 1949, in Lincolnton; the son of the late Marion Boyd and Gloria Houser.
He is survived by a daughter, Danielle Graves and husband Matthew; son, Shannon Boyd; three sisters, Evette Drum and husband Tony of Newton, Sheila Eggers and husband Danny of Lincolnton, and Deborah Oxford and husband Rick of Lincolnton; three grandchildren; companion, Ellen Andrews; and faithful dog, Baby.
A memorial gathering will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Long Shoals Wesleyan Church, 3032 Wesleyan Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092. Butch Boyd will be the speaker. A Holden Beach memorial will be scheduled in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the SECU Hospice House, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
Fred Ernest Smith Sr.
Fred Ernest Smith Sr., age 85, of 1282 Highway 27 West in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, August 1, 2013.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Wise officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodside Church of Our Savior cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born November 25, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Richard James and Florence Gales Smith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Peeler Smith and a daughter, Linda Kay Byers. He was the owner/operator of R&F Frame.
He is survived by a son, Fred Smith Jr. of Lincolnton; two daughters, Sue Crouse and Nancy McNeely, both of Lincolnton; two brothers, Harold Smith of Denver and Charles Smith of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
