Roger Calvin Burrell

Roger Calvin Burrell passed away peacefully at Levine & Dickson Hospice House on Monday, July 29, 2013.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. with a remembrance service to follow in the chapel.

He was born in Mt. Holly on November 2, 1943 to Louise Hendrix Burrell and Calvin Burrell.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Lingerfelt Burrell and children, Jeffrey Burrell and wife Shannon, daughter, Jennifer Jackson, son, Bryant Burrell and wife Sue; brother, Carleton Burrell; grandchildren, Shelden, Whitney, Jaye, Wesley, Elizabeth, Abigail, Jensen and Greysen; stepchildren, Mike Morris and wife Stephanie and Scott Morris; and great-grandchildren, Annaleigha Rose Jackson and Jaye Deacon Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078, or to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Roy Lee Scronce

Roy Lee Scronce, age 78, of Lincolnton passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at his residence.  Born January 22, 1935 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Pearl Smith Scronce.  Roy retired from Cranford Woodcarving and was a member of Crowell Memorial United Methodist Church in Lincolnton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

He is survived by wife, Vivian Scronce of the home; two sons, Keith Lee Scronce and wife Lisa of Conover and Chad Thomas Scronce of the home; granddaughter, Chastity Scronce of Newton; grandson, Tyler Dean Scronce of Wilmington; two great grandsons, Elijah Barley Carr and Isaac Carr; three brothers, Ken and Glenn Scronce, both of Lincolnton and Carroll Scronce of Newton.

A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Crowell Memorial United Methodist Church in Lincolnton with Pastor Freida Hobson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service today from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.

Carolyn Gaffney Williamson

Carolyn Gaffney Williamson, 77, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Sidney and Ethelene McGinnis Gaffney and the wife of the late Earl Williamson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Gaffney.

She had lived in Hendersonville for 13 years and was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church.  Carolyn gave such love and care to her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Bob Seigler and wife, Sheryl, of Hendersonville, and Ron Seigler of Hendersonville and Florence, S.C.; daughter, Kim Turbeville and husband, Dale, of Florence, S.C.; sister, Gail Eaker of Lincolnton; many grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 2, 3013 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home.  The Reverend Robert Hefner and will officiate. A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Hollybrook Cemetery in Lincolnton.

Patrick Joseph Ziros

Patrick Joseph Ziros, 70, of Butler, Pa. passed away July 26, 2013.

Survivors include his wife, Grace; sons, James, John and Joseph; daughter, Terri; daughter-in-law, Kathy; and five grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. August 9, 2013 at a Simple Service Chapel, Gastonia.

Fred Cook

Fred Cook, 93, of Newton died July 29, 2013.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. August 1, 2013 at Beulah Baptist Church.  The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Burial will be at St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, Casar.

Glenn E. Yount Sr.

Glenn E. “Jeep” Yount Sr., 78, of Claremont died July 28, 2013.

A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Claremont. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will received friends July 30, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary, Newton.
