Lincolnton police said a 25-year-old Maiden man was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital after crashing his motorcycle Monday afternoon along a city street.
Emergency Medical Services flew the victim to Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte following the incident, officers said.
The man had been traveling East on East Gaston Street Extension in Lincolnton just after 4 p.m. when he took the road’s curve at a high rate of speed, propelling him down an embankment and into a ditch near Mohican Mills, police said.
According to officers, the road’s curve is significantly sharp and a common area for wrecks.
Police said they located no signs of alcohol at the scene.
The victim’s name has not been released at this time.
Lincolnton Fire Department also assisted the incident.
