Officers seek information after vehicles damaged, person injured in weekend BB gun shooting spree

Police said at least three men in a vehicle used a BB gun to shoot one person and over 20 vehicles in Lincolnton over the weekend.

Officers have yet to make arrests in the case and are asking for help in identifying the suspects and vehicle.

Witnesses in a majority of the incidents told police they spotted between three and four white males with brown hair in their late teens to early 20s inside a vehicle Saturday on East Main Street.

Police described the vehicle as a white Jeep Cherokee with a brown underbody, all factory parts and possible rain guards.

According to a report, the men shot a woman in her buttocks just after 12 p.m. while she was standing in the parking lot of Snappy Lube.

An additional person told officers a BB struck his car wash sign while he was holding it the parking lot of O’Reilly Auto Parts.

The men shot at least 21 vehicles throughout the area between 10 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, breaking several windows, police said.

The suspects’ vehicle has since been spotted in Lincoln Meadows, a city subdivision, where officers said at least three of the shootings took place.
