Wayne W. Lynn
MAIDEN — Wayne Wilson Lynn, age 67, of Maiden passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
Born June 21, 1946, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late George David Lynn and Georgia Bell Long Lynn. He was a member of Open Word Holiness Church in Newton and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served 12 years and fought in the Vietnam War. Wayne was employed by U.S. Express as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, David Lynn.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joyce Lee Lynn of the home; son, Rick Lynn and wife, Jill of Lincolnton; daughters, Darlene Lynn Pell and husband, Austen of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Michelle Lynn Boyer and husband, Eric of San
Antonio, Tex., Stephanie Valentine and husband, David of Columbia, S.C.; stepson, David Blanton and wife, Marianne of Hickory; stepdaughter, Connie Sloan and husband, James of Lattimore; brother, Eddie Lynn and wife, Jane of Lincolnton; and sister-in-law, Shirley Lynn of Pumpkin Center. Wayne is also survived by eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m., at Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover with Rev. Matthew Sparks, Rev. Darren Greeson and Rev. Bobby Rippy officiating. Military honors by Newton American Legion Post 16 will be presented following the service.

William Monroe Jordan
SHERRILLS FORD — Mr. William Monroe Jordan, age 70, of 2582 Hopewell Church Road in Sherrills Ford, passed away on July 22, 2013.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Jordan officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in the Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury at a later date.
Mr. Jordan was a native of Robeson County, born on January 3, 1943, son of the late Perry Monroe Jordan. He was employed as a truck driver before retiring. Mr. Jordan also served his country in the United States Navy.
Survivors include: his mother, Agnes Mabe Jordan of Raleigh; two sons, Perry Jordan and wife Cecelia of Lincolnton, Billy Jordan of Sherrills Ford; one daughter, Tammy Jordan Blair and husband Billy of Rock Hill, S.C.; seven brothers, James Jordan and wife Ann of Townsville, Rev. Bobby Jordan and wife Linda of Hamlet, Richard Jordan and wife Patricia of Franklinton, Gary Jordan and wife Kim of Zebulon, Randy Jordan and wife Dale of Trinity, Sam Jordan and wife Kim and Scott Jordan and wife Patty, all of Franklinton; one sister, Barbara Gilroy and husband Ted of Iron Station; six grandchildren, Michael Jordan, Todd Jordan, Alex Blair, Erin Farrell, Brendan Farrell, and Hunter Blair; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Vonnie Beatrice Rouse Seate
Vonnie Beatrice Rouse Seate, age 96, of Brookwood Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, July 22, 2013.
Her funeral service will be noon on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Covenant Bible Church with Rev. Nathan Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior
to the service at the church.
Mrs. Seate was born August 5, 1916 in Horry County, S.C. to the late Clarence Robert and Polly Rogers Rouse. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Hurley Seate. She worked as an LPN at Broward
General Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She is survived by two daughters, Fran Willis of Sherrills Ford and Chris Blankenship and husband Bennett of Lincolnton; three grandsons, Jerry Willis, Reagan Willis, and Gary Blankenship and wife Debra; five great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Julius Robert ‘Bud’ Wise
Mr. Julius Robert “Bud” Wise, age 88, of 4621 Reepsville Road in Vale, died on Monday, July 22, 2013.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home. The service will be private.
“Bud” was born April 28, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late Marshal Evan and Prue Gilbert Wise. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Bynum Wise. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and then later worked for, and retired from Mohican Mills. Mr. Wise was a member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge #137, Scottish Rite, and the Oasis Shrine. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 100 and the Lincolnton VFW. “Bud” was a former assistant fire chief at Union Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by a son, Don Wise and wife Beth of Lincolnton; one grandson, Evan Wise of Lincolnton; and a sister, Leila W. Carpenter of Vale.

Bertha F. Wray McClure
Bertha F. Wray McClure, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 22, 2013 at the Brian Center in Lincolnton.
A Lincoln County native, she was born November 26, 1928 and resided in Stanley for many years. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, William Hardy McClure; father, Wymer
Wray; and mother, Dora Bynum Wray. Bertha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who dearly loved her family.
She is survived by her son, Roger Terry McClure and wife Joyce of Iron Station; two grandsons, Greg McClure and wife Lisa of Lakeland, Fla. and Andy McClure and wife Katie of Gastonia; six great grandchildren, Caleb, Carson, Hannah, Bailey, Joshua, and Aaron McClure. She is also survived by a sister, Martha Deal and husband Reg of Lincolnton; and a brother Harold Wray and wife Frances of Gastonia. Aunt Bertha is also survived by five nieces and three nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Brian Center of Lincolnton for their caring treatment provided to their loved one. Bertha was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Lincolnton.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday July 25, 2013 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A service of remembrance will follow at 2 p.m. in the Woodlawn Chapel officiated by Reverend Leland Stephens. Bertha will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.

Paul Fowler Chapman
Mr. Paul Fowler Chapman, age 86, of Lincolnton died on Sunday, July 21, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior
to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at a later date in West Jefferson.
Mr. Chapman was born May 14, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Duff and Grace Tutherow Chapman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Beheler Chapman and brothers, Webb Chapman, Stowe Chapman, Hoyt Chapman, and Bill Chapman and sisters, Avis C. Weaver, Ollie Chapman, and Dorothy Kiser. He retired from Cochrane Furniture Company.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
