Arthur Waldemar Caccia
July 25, 1924 – July 12, 2013
Arthur Waldemar Caccia, 88, peacefully went to heaven on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the NC Veterans Home in Salisbury. He was born on July 25, 1924 in Orange, N.J. to Ervin L. Waldemar and Louise Geserich Caccia.
Mr. Caccia served in the Army-Air Corp during WWII as a radio operator. He served in the Asian Theatre and was stationed in India and Burma.
Upon returning home to NJ, he met and married the love of his life, Betty May Schultz, on October 2, 1948. Together at their home in East Hanover, NJ, they raised five children. The couple also hosted students from Europe, South America, Mexico, and Japan who were attending colleges in the U.S. Mr. Caccia was the tax assessor for the townships of East Hanover and Denville in the 1960’s and 70’s.
In 1974, Art and Betty moved to the Lake Norman area in NC where he continued his work as an assessor. In 1979, the couple moved to Lancaster, S.C., where Art was the city tax assessor until his retirement in Jan. 1986. The couple then began their travels through all 50 states, Europe, Japan, and the Caribbean. In his spare time, Art enjoyed painting, tending his collection of orchids, and designing and making stained glass windows and ornaments.
Mr. Caccia is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years and his older brother, Robert Burton.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Katharine) and Howard (Diane); three daughters, Candie (Joseph) Rudzinski, Susan Caccia, and Karen (Mark) Ammons; 11 grandchildren: Michael (Eve) and John (Chan) Caccia; Joey Rudzinski, Bethany Rudzinski-Liles, and James (Sandi) Rudzinski; Kevin (Carla), David, and Emily Caccia; and Stephen, Christopher and Baily Ammons; seven great-grandchildren, Cameron, Bryan, and Bella Caccia; Wally Kosol-Caccia; Claire and Mayci Rudzinski; and Emmet Christopher-Strayhorn. Also surviving is one younger sister, Catherine Kaas of Pa.; nephew, Rande Burton of Calif.; niece, Diana Swinson of Del. and several other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in the Christian Life Center at Mt. Pleasant UMC, 4136 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Sherrills Ford.

Carolyn Amelia Cloer Boston, age 73, of Lincolnton, died on Thursday, July 18, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boston was born May 10, 1940 in Lincoln County to the late Thomas and Alma Shrum Cloer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Boston Jr., and a son, Paul David Johnson Jr. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Watts of Charlotte and Rhonda Lynn Davis of the home; one brother, Don Cloer of Fla.; two sisters, Evelyn Anthony of Cherryville and Barbara Proctor of Conover; five grandchildren, Crystal Bridges, Amy Robinson, Tonya Myers, Paul David Johnson III, and April Haynes; and nine great-grandchildren.

CATAWBA — Harriet S. King, 80, of Catawba passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
She was born October 25, 1932 in Edgecombe Co. and was the daughter of the late Curtis Suggs and the late Flossie Mulligan Suggs.
In addition to her parents; a brother, Curtis Suggs preceded her in death.
Survivors include, husband of 63 years, John Thomas King Sr. of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law. John Thomas King, Jr. and Myra of Rutherfordton, Gregory Suggs King and Mary of Catawba; one daughter, Donna Reynolds of Huntersville; six grandchildren, Tommy King III and Shannon, Ashley Whitener and Jason, Jennifer Reynolds, Cassady-Jo Burdette and Curtis, Gregory King and Amanda, Jordan King; and ten great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden with Rev. David J. Niemeyer officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lincolnton.
The family received friends, prior to the service, from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Muriel Carter Dellinger
ROCK HILL — Mrs. Muriel Carter Dellinger, 84, of 804 Finley Court passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.
Services for Mrs. Dellinger will be 3 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White Street, Rock Hill, S.C. with Rev. Gerald Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road.
Mrs. Dellinger was born in Lincolnton and the daughter of the late Zero Leonard and Hannah Irene Carpenter Carter. She was a member of Garden Sanctuary Church of God and retired from Burlington Industries with over 25 years of service
Mrs. Dellinger is survived by her husband of 35 years, Boyce Herbert Dellinger; her son, James Emmanuel Dellinger (An) of Wichita Falls, Tex.; daughters, Rebecca Dellinger Crouse, Brenda Dellinger Beard, and Deborah Dellinger Arrowood (Willie), all of Lincolnton, Carol Dellinger Roberts (Matt) of Gastonia, Cathy Dellinger Travis (Terry) of Claremont, Sheila Dellinger Reynolds (Johnny) of Shelby; and Frankie Irene Austin (John) of Olympia, WA; 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until time of service today at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel and other times at the home.

Shirley Elizabeth Beam Hartman
DALLAS — Shirley Elizabeth Beam Hartman, age 78, of 405 S. Gaston St., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her residence in Dallas.
Mrs. Hartman was born on April 30, 1935 in Gaston a daughter of the late Percy and Grace Carpenter Beam. Shirley was a loving wife and devoted mother who spent her life caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Percy Beam Jr.; and sisters, Winnon Beam, and Joyce Beam May.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Darise Hartman; daughters, Teresa Parsons (Hershel) of Gastonia, and Robin Nicholson (Lee) of Bessemer City; sister-in-law, Jean Hartman of Lincolnton, and brother-in-law, Ralph Hartman (Mary) of Lincolnton.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services will Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ernestine Jane Hinson Elliott
Ernestine Jane Hinson Elliott, 81, of Iron Station, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2013. She was born to the late Ernest Orin Hinson and Elizabeth Ann Sowell Hinson January 25, 1932 in Lancaster, S.C.
Her immediate family includes her husband, Maurice Arnold Elliott; her children, Carl Robinson, Jr. and his wife Susan of Denver and Elizabeth Ann Howard and her husband Eddie Howard of Fort Worth, Tex.; her brother, Gerald Hinson; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Ann and brothers Tommy Hinson and Morris Hinson,
Ernestine graduated from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, S.C. She worked for Duke Power Company for 31 years, Food Lion and Pitney Bowes. She had a beautiful smile and loved the Lord. Ernestine was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Iron Station. Her defining characteristics were her unselfishness and her spunkiness. Everyone knew that “she dearly loved her family and was proud of them!”
Ernestine struggled with her heart condition for 4 years. The family would like to recognize her husband Arnold and caregiver, Scotty Barker for the wonderful care they provided with un-ending patience and love.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church, 194 Old Plank Road, Iron Station,with Pastor Michael Scott officiating. The family gathered to greet friends at 2 p.m. at the church.
Entombment was private.
