Elliott Wilson Teague, age 35 of 135 Boulder Drive in Lincolnton died Thursday, July 11, 2013.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Lincolnton. Father Miles Smith will officiate.
Survivors include wife, Stephanie Abernethy Teague of the home; daughter, Carys Teague; son, Dawser Teague; parents, Wilson Teague and Maureen Elliott Teague of Hickory; father and mother-in-law , Steve and Becky Abernethy
of Lincolnton; sister, Emily Teague Wareham and husband Brad of Asheville and their children Avery and Chance; sister-in-law Allyson Abernethy Hancock and husband Doug of Lincolnton and nephews Wade and Will Hancock.

Martha Goodson Story, age 70 of 286 Trey Trail in Lincolnton died Sunday, July 14, 2013.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Westside Baptist Church in Maiden. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Story was born August 20, 1942 in Lincoln County. She was the daughter of the late Albert Daniel Goodson and Fannie McAlister Goodson. Martha was preceded in death by her siblings Floylee Billings, Helen Burris, David
Goodson, Sybil Fortenberry and Linda Goodson. She worked in insurance prior to retirement.
Survivors include husband, F. Truett Story of the home; daughters, Shasta Story-Martin of FL, Trudie Story Cullen of Sherrills Ford, and Teresa Story Green of FL; six grandchildren, Josh Price, Travis Price, Tiffany Green, Tyler Green, Trevor Green and Heather Martin; six great grandchildren.

LAWNDALE — Marie Daves Norman, 70, of Lawndale, went home to be with Jesus Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby.
Born August 19, 1942 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Coy Clingman Daves and Essie Elizabeth Wiggins Daves. She was retired as a switchboard operator for Carolina Freight Carriers. Mrs. Norman was a
member of Norman’s Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her three grandsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ray Norman; four brothers, Paul C. Daves, Zane Daves, Floyd F. Daves and Robert L. Daves; and one sister, Virginia Gantt.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Martin and husband, Dennis of Fallston and Kim Spurling and husband, Gene of Lawndale; three grandchildren, Luke and Spencer Martin and Trevor Spurling; brother, Charles “Bud” M. Daves of Shelby and four sisters, Jewel D. Canipe of Casar, Ann D. Faggart of Concord, Bell D. Brown and husband, Jim of Charlotte and Gilda D. Hunt and husband, Steve of Polkville; brother in-law, Jerald Norman and wife, Andrea of Casar;
sisters-in-law, Mae Daves of Lincolnton and Doris Stockton of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. At other times the family will be at the home of Karen and Dennis Martin, 111 Charolais Drive, Fallston. Funeral
Service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church, with her nephews, Revs. Jeff Faggart and Gene Faggart officiating. Burial was at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church, Cemetery.

Elwyn Leroy Beam
Elwyn Leroy Beam, 89, of Highway 274 in Vale died Friday, July 12 at the Brian Center of Lincolnton. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 14 at 2:30 p.m., at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church. His body was in state for thirty
minutes prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday at Warlick’s Funeral Home.
Born in 1924 in Lincoln County, Elwyn was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theatre. After service, he married Barbara Jane Beam and they owned and operated Beam Lumber, together with their son, Eddy, until 1993. Elwyn continued to work on his own at the lumber plant until earlier this year. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Lee “Bub” Beam and Clara Jenks Beam, his wife of 61 years, Barbara, and his son
An active, lifelong member of Cedar Grove Lutheran Church in Vale, Elwyn was a part of the Choir, the Lutheran Men in Mission and his Sunday School Class. Active in politics and a member of the Lincoln County Democratic Party, Elwyn served as a County Commissioner for 16 years until 1986. Until recently, he volunteered each month as a driver for LINC Meals for over 20 years. He leaves behind his
comrades in the local “Last Man Standing Club” of WWII vets, as well as his “coffee club” friends at Dan’s Superette who always saved him the favored seat at the table.
Elwyn is survived by one daughter, Loretta Beam, of Vale; his aunt, Pauline Beam; two brothers-in-law: Carl Beam and John Beam, Jr. and their families. He is also survived by his many special family-friends including the Escobars, (David, Alexandra, and Leonardo), and the Engles (Ronnie and Becky).
Elwyn and Loretta have been exceptionally blessed and profoundly thankful for the fellowship, love, and grace-filled support of their devoted church family at Cedar Grove. The family also extends its thanks to the staff of Brian Center, Lincolnton for their wonderful care and expertise throughout the last four months, and also to caregivers, Jane Workman and Tilley Willis.

Buddy Jackson Lowman Sr., 86, of Conover died Friday, July 12, 2013.
The funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
