Hickory man accused of inappropriately touching Lincoln County 7-year-old
A Catawba County man accused of a sex-related incident with a Lincoln County child is now behind local bars after the Sheriff’s Office said out-of-state officers apprehended him on a warrant late last month.
McGarrett Eugene McManus, 30, of 2204 3rd Ave. SE in Hickory, was transferred to Lincoln County on Wednesday, more than 10 days after law enforcement officers in Knox County, Tenn., issued a warrant against him for the local sex-related incident, a press release said.
McManus allegedly inappropriately touched a 7-year-old girl last month at her home, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies filed a warrant for his arrest on June 21 and entered his name into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
The release said the incident took place on or about June 15.
McManus remains in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond.
Det. Dan Renn is credited with securing the warrant against the suspect.
