Explorers from LCSO Explorer Post 700 Participate in State Law Enforcement Training Academy
Four members of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 700 joined about 50 other law enforcement explorers from around the state in a week-long training program at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg. Cadet Sgt. Marvin Schaeffer, Cadet Candace Huss, Cadet Kenny Lowe and Cadet Emily Huss spent the week of June 16-21 participating in training similar to the actual training given to prospective law enforcement officers. The explorers began their day at 5:30 a.m. with physical training and ended with study time at 11 p.m. Classes included Constitutional Law, Crime Scene Investigation, Crowd Management, Arrest Techniques, History of Law Enforcement, Felony Traffic Stops, Courtroom Testimony and Handling a Domestic Disturbance. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 700 is made up of about 15 cadets who joined the post to determine whether they want to pursue law enforcement as a career. Post 700 was chosen the 2012 Explorer Post of the Year by the Piedmont Council of the Boy Scouts. Pictured are (from left) Kenny Lowe, Emily Huss, Candace Huss and Marvin Schaeffer.
