Lincoln County will be among thousands of locations across the country Sunday hosting community-based initiatives focused on prayer and repentance.
The efforts will be part of a nationwide event called “Call 2 Fall,” sponsored by the Family Research Council (FRC) in Washington, D.C.
Organizers have asked that at least 40,000 churches participate in the event and showcase their Christian faith by taking three to five minutes Sunday at their usual worship service locations to kneel and pray, asking God “to reshape our lives and renew our land,” according to the event website calltofall.com/basics.
The premise behind “Call 2 Fall” stems from a Bible verse in 2 Chronicles.
So far, more than 1.7 million people and churches have pledged to participate.

The program will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton and will include elected officials, Gospel singing groups and a minister from Egypt.
