Local team wins state tournament



The L-Town Xtreme ‘02 Fastpitch Softball 10U team won the NSA North Carolina State Tournament held June 22 & 23. This championship follows many other titles they have taken this season including the NSA Mighty Casey Rock Hill, SC, NSA Season Opener, Spartanburg, SC, and NSA Louisville Slugger Spring Fling-World Qualifier Spartanburg, SC. They got Runner-Up in the Spring Cheerwine Championship Salisbury and third place in Top Gun/USFA Summer State Championships-West, Concord. In July they will be traveling to Williamsburg, VA to compete in the Class B Eastern Girl’s Fast Pitch World Series. There they will compete against girls from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. The team is made up of girls from Lincolnton, Vale, Cherryville and Ellenboro. Teammates are: Gracie Ledford, Morgan Chapman, Mackenzie Hayes, Allie Kay Homesley, Brooklyn Harris, Gracie Hester, Brooke Henley, Jayleigh Drewery, Alyson Eaker and Laney Jo Patterson.
