The Lincoln County Cardinals pulled off a 10-2 win over the Queen City Mustangs at East Lincoln High School on Saturday.
The Cardinals scored in every inning but two, and held a 4-0 lead after the second.
Right-hander Justin Norton led the team on the mound with six shutout innings. The Mustangs scored once in the seventh and once in the eighth.
Randal Ortiz led Lincoln County’s 14-hit effort with a 4-5 performance at the plate. Nathaniel Scoggins went 3-3.
The Cardinals scored one run in both the third and fourth innings, and added two in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Queen City scored its two runs on four hits and had one error.
Lincoln County resumes play on Tuesday with a doubleheader against the Carolina Heat beginning at 5 p.m.
