Joel S. ‘Steve’ Beard Sr.
Joel S. “Steve” Beard Sr., age 68, of 1297 Shoal Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home. His funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bost officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Beard was born May 28, 1945 in Catawba County to Faye Hullett Beard and the late J.D. Beard. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Beard and brother-in-law, Wayne Parker. Mr. Beard retired from Mohican Mills where he worked as a supervisor in the shipping department.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dellinger Beard of the home; children, Jimmy Angle and Sam, Joel “Dink” Beard Jr. and Pug, Jeff Sain and Nova, Carrie Murray and Doug Arrowood, T.J. Beard, Daniel Sain and Kisha, and Princi Gantt and Mike; his mother, Faye H. Beard; brother, Rick Beard of Lincolnton; two sisters, Alene Parker of Maiden and Pat Hoppes and husband Bud of Maiden; sixteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Steve was loved by his many nephews, nieces and extended family and friends.

Iris Blankenship Bradley
Mrs. Iris Blankenship Bradley, age 82, formerly of Mirror Lake Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
Her funeral service was 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church of High Shoals with Rev. Doug McClain and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Bradley was born April 27, 1931 in Lincoln County to the late Dennis E. and Bessie Ellis Blankenship. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Richard Bradley and a sister, Lavonne Greene. Mrs. Bradley retired as a seamstress and was a well known AVON representative.
Survivors include three sons, George Richard Bradley Jr. and wife Ailene, Robert Scott Bradley and wife Sharon and Greg Bradley and wife Cindy, all of Lincolnton; one brother, Bobby E. Blankenship and wife Joann of Mt. Holly; seven grandchildren, Kristy Edwards and husband Dawson, David Bradley, Hollan Delany and husband Matthew, Kendal Bradley and fiancé Zack Gibson, and Preston Bradley, Jeremiah McConnell and wife April, Nathan McConnell and wife Rebekah; six great grandchildren.

Herbert Henning Bryant Sr.
Mr. Herbert Henning Bryant Sr., age 84, of Lincolnton went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2013.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday June 15, 2103 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Doug McClain officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
Mr. Bryant was a native of Horry County, S.C. He was the son of the late Charlie and Nellie Mae Cribb Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a regional sales manager for NTS, PHH of Fort Worth, Tex., and TCH. He received the Don Scott Award for Sales Excellence from PHH. Herb was a popular speaker, noted for his humor. He liked telling stories of his childhood antics. Herb also served as a volunteer with Lincoln County Hospice, as well as serving his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Polly Boggs Bryant of the home; one daughter, Lyn B. Owen of Lincolnton; one son, Herbert Bryant Jr. of Lincolnton; daughters, Yvonne Modlin and husband Nathan of Lincolnton, Holly Steele and husband Fred of Vale, Millie Propst and husband Perry of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Rob Owen and wife LeAna, Hannah Hill and husband Jim, Matt Modlin and wife Julie, Patrick Modlin and wife Allyson, all of Lincolnton, Eric Steele and wife Sarah of Charleston S.C., Keane Steele of Charleston, S.C., Chase Caldwell and Kayda Caldwell, both of Lincolnton, Ryan Propst and wife Kelli of Vale, Eric Bryant, Scott Bryant, Jeremiah Bryant, and Spenser Bryant; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Bryant and wife Della of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Rosa Bryant Walters of Camden, S.C.

DENVER — Mary Sue Robinson Little, 87, of Denver passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Catawba Valley Hospice, Sherrills Ford.
Born June 18, 1925 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Robinson and the late Lettie Mae Lineberger Robinson. Mrs. Little was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Denver and was retired from Clyde Fabrics in Newton.
In addition to her parents, husband, Robert Lee Little; two sons, Tommy Little and Barry Neal Little; daughter, Sue Albertson and twin great-grandsons preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Rick Little and wife, Debbie of Cramerton; one daughter, Vonda Hicks and husband, Eddie of Maiden; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held today at 4 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Gary Fulker and Rev. Glenn Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Denver. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden.

Christina Anne Ward, age 52, of Pete’s Road in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, June 13, 2013.

Ms. Ward was born November 4, 1960 in Greenville, S.C. to Calvin and Anna Hughes Ward. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Chaney and Nora Murray.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Bess and Michael Bess, both of Boiling Springs, S.C.; two daughters, Abby Bess of Vale and Brittany Belue of Campabello, S.C.; parents, Calvin and Anna Hughes of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Johnathan Ward of Columbia, S.C. and Marty Ward of Elk Ridge, Md.; two sisters, Gina Rucker of Lincolnton and Vanessa Weiss of Maiden.
