A man used a baseball bat to strike another man in the face Monday night at a Lincoln County residence, sending him to the hospital, deputies said.
Kenneth James Hamlin, 38, of 6804 Holly Hawk Court, was charged in the incident.
Hamlin told officers he had grown “tired” of the victim’s abusive nature toward his girlfriend after the couple and the woman’s child had been staying at the suspect’s home for a few days, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Hamlin first used the bat to break two windows on the victim’s vehicle while he was inside, deputies said.
Both the victim and the child sustained injuries in the incident, prompting Emergency Medical Services to respond to the scene.
First responders deemed the child “OK,” having suffered only a minor injury, but they rushed the victim to a Lincoln County hospital for treatment for facial bruising, a report said.
Hamlin has since been released on a $10,000 secured bond but faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault on a minor under 12 years old and injury to personal property.
