Rec. Center camps
The City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation, in connection with Lincolnton High School Athletic Department, is currently taking registrations for volleyball, football, tennis and wrestling summer camps, which start Monday, June 17. Summer Day Camp
Lincoln County Parks and Recreation will be holding a Summer Day Camp, including games, arts and crafts, guest speakers and field trips, for rising 1st-6th graders 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays now through Aug. 16 at East Lincoln Community Center, 8160 Optimist Club Rd. in Denver, and Howards Creek Community Center, 494 Howards Creek Sch. Senior citizens lunch
Senior Citizens of Iron Station will meet 12 p.m. at Ironton Presbyterian Church in Iron Station for a covered-dish lunch. For more information, call (704) 735-3242.

Boger City Baptist Church, E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will host Vacation Bible School 6-8:30 p.m. nightly today through Friday for grades K-5, older youth and adults. Hope Baptist Church, 571 Salem Church Rd. in Lincolnton, will host Vacation Bible School 6-8 p.m. today through Friday for ages 3-12.

Gospel meeting
Newton Church of Christ, 656 St. James Ch. Rd. in Newton, will host a Gospel Meeting today through Sunday with guest speaker Ron Halbrook, of Louisville, Ky., who will present the program “Building Godly Homes.” Meetings will be 7 p.m. daily with 9:30 a.m. Bible study on Sunday followed by 11 a.m. worship. Quilt Guild
Piecemakers Quilt Guild will meet 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln County Senior Center, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton on the Gaston College-Lincoln campus. Buffalo Shoals Club House, 1834 Buffalo Shoals Rd. in Lincolnton, will hold a hot dog sale and acoustic music night with food sales 4-8 p.m. and music 6-9 p.m. Proceeds will go toward making the building handicap-accessible.

Theatre Guild show

5K Run/Walk
Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincoln County will host a Run the Rail 5K Run/Walk starting 9 a.m. at Betty G. Ross Park in Lincolnton. Events will include a 5K run, 5K Memorial Walk and Kids Dash. Food giveaway
Daniels Lutheran Church, 3170 Reepsville Road in Lincolnton, is hosting a “Bread of Life” food giveaway from 9-11 a.m. Recipients must be residents of Lincoln County and complete a short form for a 50-pound food box. If a family currently qualifies for Food Stamps or Lincoln County Christian Ministry assistance, the family automatically qualifies for a food box. Christmas in June
A Toys for Tots Poker Run, sponsored by Toys for Tots Marine Corps League, will take place today with registration 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Iron Station Thunder in Lincolnton. The event will conclude with the first bike in at 3 p.m. at Zipper’s Restaurant on N. Generals Blvd. in Lincolnton. The 74-mile ride will cost $20 per hand. There will also be cash prizes and raffles. Attendants are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate or a cash donation.

Dance recital
Alternative Steps Dance Studio will hold its annual dance recital 3 p.m. in the North Lincoln High School auditorium, 2737 Lee Lawing Rd. in Lincolnton. Admission is free. Concessions will be available.

Family Fun Fest
Emanuel Reformed Church, 329 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will host a Family Fun Fest 4-6 p.m. A magic show will be presented at 4:30 p.m. There will be also be face painting and corn hole.

Clipper-cutting class
Gaston College will host a clipper-cutting class 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The class will focus on angles, reference points, hair grades, blending and more and will also satisfy an eight-hour continuing education renewal requirement for cosmetologists. Autism Society programs
Register now to attend two different five-week programs on Life Skills Development and Social Skills, each sponsored by the Lincoln County Chapter of the Autism Society of North Carolina. Both programs cost $50 and will be weekly starting June 19 at Freedom Church, 125 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. The Life Skills program, for individuals with disabilities ages 13 and up, will be 10:30 a.m. to noon. The Social Skills program, for individuals with disabilities ages five and up, will be 9 a.m. to noon. Register now through June 30 to attend the Lincoln County Schools Child Nutrition Department’s National Restaurant Association SERVSAFE Manager 6th Edition, which will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23 and 24 and 9-11 a.m. July 25 in room 217 at the Lincoln County School of Technology on Timken Drive in Lincolnton. The class is open to local restaurant staff and food-service providers. Cost is $100 per participant.
