Carol Lorraine Cole Brashear, age 70, of 278 Sunnyhill Drive in Lincolnton, died on Friday, June 7, 2013.
A memorial service was 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brandon Tipton officiating. The family received friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brashear was born July 18, 1942 in Union, S.C. to the late John William and Ruby Elizabeth Hall Cole. She was retired from textiles.
Survivors include one son, David Parker of Kings Mountain; two brothers, John W. Cole and Mike Cole both of Lincolnton; two sisters, Ella Merck and June Parker both of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Geneva C. Engle
CHERRYVILLE — Geneva C. Engle, age 91, of 1123 Bess Chapel Church Road in Cherryville died Sunday, June 9, 2013.
She was born March 23, 1922 in Lincoln County to the late Charlie Canipe and Sarah Helms Canipe. Mrs. Engle was preceded in death by her husband Hillard Paul Engle; and one brother Grady Canipe. She worked in textiles.
Her funeral service will be held at 4 p.m Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church with Pastor Dale Pederson officiating. The family will receive friends from2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Engle and wife Becky of Cherryville; daughter, Brenda Engle Hilderbran and husband Kenneth of Conover; grandson, Kenneth Hilderbran Jr. and wife Jessica of Cherryville and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Major Charles Frank Hornbuckle Jr.
STANLEY — Major Charles Frank Hornbuckle Jr., age 88 of 5130 Lineberger Road in Stanley died on Saturday, June 8, 2013.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Ervin officiating.
Mr. Hornbuckle was born on January 17, 1925 in Gibsonville to the late Charles Frank Hornbuckle Sr. and Elizabeth Stewart Hornbuckle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Robert Goodson Hornbuckle. Major Hornbuckle was Retired USAF with 30 years of service, WWII and Vietnam veteran, flew B17’s, B29’s, B47’s and B52 bombers. He was also retired from 22 years of employment with Gaston County Dyeing Machine Company where he was in field service and later safety manager.
Survivors include his son, Charles R. Hornbuckle and his wife Kathy of Stanley and by his adopted granddaughter, Savannah Smith of Gastonia.

Alfred James ‘Jim’ Moore III
CROUSE — Mr. Alfred James “Jim” Moore III, age 57, of 945 Old Lincolnton-Crouse Road in Crouse, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at his home.
His funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Andy Royals and Brent Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church.
Jim was born November 28, 1955 in Mecklenburg County to Betty Hathcock Moore and the late Alfred James Moore Jr. He was a route salesman for Unifirst.
Survivors include his wife, Paige B. Moore of the home; three daughters, Allison Abshire and Christopher of York, S.C., Michelle Knotts and Michael of Fountain Inn, S.C., Danielle Braswell and Benjamin of Kings Mountain; mother, Betty H. Moore of Matthews; one sister, Jan Ashley and Stan of Cornelius; seven grandchildren, Molly, Lexus, Aniston, Logan, Zane, Abiegale, and William; good friends, Tony Perkins and Dave Belliveau and feline companion, Salem.

Odell William Wilcox Jr.
Odell William Wilcox Jr., 60, of Asheville, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Va. following an extended illness.
He was the son of Odell William Wilcox Sr. and the late Wilma Lakey Wilcox. He graduated from West Lincoln High School, Lincolnton, and Ambassador Baptist College, Shelby. He served in the US Marine Corps and was a Master Woodworker.
Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife, Joy Dellinger Wilcox; daughter, Jamie Bowman; granddaughter, Halle Bowman; sisters, Jennie Sigmon, Patsy Nash and Rita Edwards; and a brother, Guy Williamson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Clark Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.

BESSEMER CITY — Virginia Carpenter Wyont 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2013.
She was born on March 29, 1922, in Lincolnton. Virginia was the daughter of the late Martin Luther (Marty) and Violet Elizabeth (Lizzie) Paysour Carpenter.
She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Virginia and her husband worked at several thread mills and especially The Tate Yarn Mill in Lincolnton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Woodrow Wyont; brother, Paul Carpenter; sister, Mozelle Costner; daughter, Carolyn (Sue) Wyont Emmett and husband (Roy) Edward Emmett.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth (Ann) Wyont Rudisill and husband Jonas Dayton (Joe) Rudisill; grandchildren, Terri Williamson, and husband Alex, Pam Emmett, Lori Carpenter, and husband Lee, Lisa Glover, and husband Richard, Roy Edward Emmett Jr., Dawn Emory, and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Jason, Carie, and Clay Williamson, Joshua and Brady Glover, Chelsea Carpenter Rushing and husband Cameron, Doug, Joel, and wife Cheyenne, and Hannah Emmett; Jared and Malia Emory; great-great grandchild, Jack Williamson.
Her funeral service will be 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Puett United Methodist Church with Pastor Clifford Wall officiating. Her body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 pm on Tuesday at Puett United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
