Boger City Baptist Church, located across from Arby’s, will host a Vacation Bible School beginning Monday through Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. each night. Classes are offered for kindergarten through fifth grade, youth and adults. The event will include Bible study, crafts, music, mission stories, recreation and snacks. Hope Baptist Church, 571 Salem Church Road in Lincolnton, will host Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday from 6-8 p.m. for ages 3-12.

Summer Day Camp
LIncoln County Parks and Recreation will be holding a Summer Day Camp, including games, arts and crafts, guest speakers and field trips, for rising first- through sixth-graders at the East Lincoln Community Center and Howards Creek Community Center. The camp will run June 10 through Aug. 16, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cost is $95 per child per week or $30 per day. NARFE meeting
Chapter 1983 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at the Lincoln House at noon. Visitors are welcome. For more information, call (704) 748-6498.

Community photo project
The Crouse Community History and Photo Project will meet at 5 p.m. at the Crouse United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Crouse. The meeting will begin with a brief digital photo presentation, followed by guest speaker Doug Mayes. The meeting is open to the public.

Board of Education meeting
The Lincoln County Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. at the LCS administrative offices on North Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton. The meeting is open to the public.

 Summer reading kickoff
The Lincoln County Public Library is conducting a kickoff event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Citizens Center for its 2013 summer reading program. Participants will be able to sign up for the program while enjoying food, music and various activities.

Water aerobics
The Lincolnton Recreation Pool at Betty G. Ross Park is offering water aerobics on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The water aerobics class will begin today and continue through Aug. 13. The cost is $3.00 per session or $20.00 for the entire program. Class attendance may warrant the addition of another weeknight meeting. Senior citizens lunch
Senior Citizens of Iron Station will meet at 12 p.m. at Ironton Presbyterian Church in Iron Station for a covered-dish lunch. For more information, call (704) 735-3242.

Quilt Guild
Piecemakers Quilt Guild will meet 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln County Senior Center, 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton on the Gaston College-Lincoln campus. This is a new class that will meet on the second Thursday of each month to provide one-on-one instruction to beginning quilters. For more information, contact Linda at (704) 483-2778.

Library open house
The Lincoln County Public Library is hosting an open house and RFID launch at 4 p.m. at the Charles R. Jonas Library, 306 W. Main St. in Lincolnton. The celebration will include several guest speakers. For more information, call (704) 735-8044.

Pageant meeting
The Miss Gastonia Scholarship Association will host an orientation 6:30-8 p.m. for young women interested in participating in this year’s Miss Gastonia Scholarship Pageant and Miss Gastonia’s Outstanding Teen Pageant at the Gaston County Public Library, 1555 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia. Potential contestants and their parents are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about the pageant program and entry requirements. Singles fellowship
GRACE Singles will meet at 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center dining room of First Baptist Church-Lincolnton. All adult singles and single again are invited. Sons of Confederate
Veterans meeting

Hot dog fundraiser
Buffalo Shoals Clubhouse will be holding a hot dog sale and acoustic music night. Food sales will go from 4-8 p.m., and music will be from 6-9 p.m. All proceeds will go toward making the building handicap-accessible.

Boys and Girls Club event
The Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln County will host a pancake breakfast 8-10:30 a.m. at Fatz on East Main Street in Lincolnton.

5K Run/Walk
Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincoln County will host a Run the Rail 5K Run/Walk starting 9 a.m. at Betty G. Ross Park in Lincolnton. Events will include a 5K run, 5K Memorial Walk and Kids Dash. Cedar St. in Lincolnton by noon June 14 and on the day of the event from 7:30-8:30 a.m. for $30.

Food giveaway
Daniels Lutheran Church, 3170 Reepsville Road in Lincolnton, is hosting a “Bread of Life” food giveaway from 9-11 a.m. Recipients must be residents of Lincoln County and complete a short form for a 50-pound food box. If a family currently qualifies for Food Stamps or Lincoln County Christian Ministry assistance, the family automatically qualifies for a food box. Recipients may begin lining up in the church’s parking lot at 7 a.m. Call Pastor Ted Bost at (704) 735-8034/2388 for more information.

Christmas in June
A Toys for Tots Poker Run, sponsored by Toys for Tots Marine Corps League, will be taking place. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Iron Station Thunder in Lincolnton. It will end with first bike in at 3 p.m. at Zipper’s Restaurant. The 74-mile ride will cost $20 per hand. There will be cash prizes and raffles. Bring an unwrapped toy. Cash donations also greatly appreciated.

Dance recital
Alternative Steps Dance Studio will hold its annual dance recital at 3 p.m. in the North Lincoln High School auditorium. Admission is free. Concessions will be available.

Family Fun Fest
Emanuel Reformed Church, 329 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will host a Family Fun Fest 4-6 p.m. A magic show will be presented at 4:30 p.m. There will be face painting and corn hole.

Salem Lutheran and United Church of Christ, 3410 Startown Road in Lincolnton, will hold Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday through Wednesday, June 19. The program will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday with a cookout, followed by classes until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday will begin at 5:45 p.m. with a light meal being served and classes from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each night. Lincoln Theatre Guild
The Lincoln Theatre Guild and Fifth Third Bank will present “Little Women” at the Lincoln Cultural Center. Show dates are June 14, 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are available online at www.lincolntheatreguild.com or at the Lincoln Cultural Center.

 Art camps

Community Day
House of Hope Assembly, 3090 E. N.C. 27 in Lincolnton, will host a Community Day 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22 with hot dogs, hamburgers, inflatables, games and more. The original date for the event was pushed back due to rain.

4-H summer camps
Register now to attend one of the Lincoln County 4-H Summer Ventures camps sponsored by the N.C. Cooperative Extension. Camps start June 28 and run through August. Basketball camps
East Lincoln High School will host various basketball camps this summer starting June 24. To obtain an application, visit the school’s front desk or contact Coach Chip Ashley at (704) 736-1860 ext. 25603 to have one mailed.

Golf tournament
Verdict Ridge Golf and Country Club will be hosting a tournament for the North Lincoln High School Athletic Department on Thursday, June 20. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m., followed by a 12 p.m. shotgun start. Four-player teams will play in a captain’s choice format. Applications are available at NLHS and Verdict Ridge Pro Shop.

The Lincoln County Schools Child Nutrition Department will offer the National Restaurant Association SERVSAFE Manager 6th Edition course to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23 and 24 and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 25 in room 217 at the Lincoln County School of Technology on Timken Drive. Registration for the class, which will be limited to 30 participants, will be accepted until June 30.
