Gladys Walters Franklin
Gladys Walters Franklin, age 91, formerly of Pete’s Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Spencer and Rev. Michael Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at 7201 Pompano Place in Gastonia.
Mrs. Franklin was born August 6, 1921 in Carnesville, Ga. to the late Toy Jackson and Essie Pearl Alewine Walters. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mark Woodrow Franklin Sr.; daughter, Jorita Richardson; brother, Thomas Walters; and a sister, Frances Payseur. She worked in textiles and enjoyed her family, cooking, and reading.
She is survived by three daughters, Ann Stines and husband Dean of Dallas, N.C., Rose Poole and husband Melvin of Denver, and Jackie Helms and husband Randy of Gastonia; three sons, Roger Franklin and wife Marcia of Omaha, Nebr., Mark Franklin Jr. and wife Deborah of Lincolnton, and Rocky Franklin and wife Claudette of Newton; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Miriam Jane Stroud Gilbert
Mrs. Miriam Jane Stroud Gilbert, age 83, of 430 Shuford Circle in Newton and formerly of Leewood Acres in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wyant officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gilbert was born November 26, 1929 in McDowell County to the late Charlie A. and Mamie Elliott Stroud. She was retired from the Lincoln County School System where she worked in the finance department.
Survivors include her husband, Hubert Lee Gilbert of the home; one son, Larry Gilbert and wife Diane of Charlotte; one daughter, Beth G. Wrenn and husband Lee of Kill Devil Hills; one brother, Joe Stroud and wife Nell of Lincolnton; one sister, Linda Stroud Brown and husband Thomas of Marion; one grandson, Phillip Wrenn; two granddaughters, Ingrid Gilbert Wheelahan and husband Richard, Anna Wrenn Bruton and husband Michael; three great grandchildren, Lily and Ridge Wheelahan and Kayla Bruton.

Jacquline ‘Jackie’ Lynette Johnson
Jacquline “Jackie” Lynette Johnson, age 71 of Lincolnton, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her residence. She was born May 3, 1942 in Spartanburg County, S.C. to the late Randolph Dalton and Erie Holden Dalton.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of High Shoals. She work in textiles as a Doffer and later worked at Stanley Total Living.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Dalton and Terry Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, David Johnson of the home; two sons Mark Johnson and his wife Dana and Patrick Johnson, both of Lincolnton; one brother, Buddy Dalton and his wife Linda of Taylorsville; two sisters, Carolyn Dalton and Judy Ghantt, both of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Kandra Carver, Jonathan Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Kayla Johnson; four great grandchildren, Karaline and Khloe Carver, Jermiah Aderholt, and Rylee Scronce; and her beloved pet, PePé.
Service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. at High Shoals First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at High Shoals Memorial Park. Reverends Doug McClain and Charles Ingle will officiate.

Lottie Prue Leatherman Johnson
VALE — Mrs. Lottie Prue Leatherman Johnson, age 86, of 6279 Leatherman Road in Vale, died on Thursday, June 6, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor John Locke and Pastor Robert Sain officiating. Her body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 10, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Austin and Georgia Heavner Leatherman. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband Farrell Johnson of the home; two sons, Ronald Johnson and wife Patricia and Steve Johnson and wife April, all of Vale; two brothers, Floyd Leatherman of Newton, Marvin Leatherman of Lincolnton; two sisters, Edith Sigmon of Conover and Rachel Parlier of Maiden; four grandchildren, Sherrie Davis and husband Randall, Brad Johnson, Allison Johnson and Chandler Johnson.

IRON STATION — Glenn L. Sisk Sr., age 70, of 267 Camp Creek Road in Iron Station, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Sisk was born August 30, 1942 in Gaston County to the late Flay William and Ruby Clanton Sisk. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Sisk and Flay W. Sisk Jr. Mr. Sisk was a Mason, served in the United States Air Force and then later worked as a truck driver for Westvaco, Burlington Industries and ultimately retiring from Integris Metals of Charlotte.
He is survived by a son, Glenn L. Sisk Jr. of Iron Station; two sisters, Betty Jean Bolick and husband Bill of Catawba and Fay Haas and husband Bob of Gastonia; companion, Toni Manier of Statesville; and first wife, Irene M. Purcell and companion Larry J. Mintz of Charlotte.
