Part of a Lincoln County public building sustained fire damage Tuesday afternoon after police said someone set a homeless man’s cart on fire near the structure.
The Department of Social Services building received about $20,000 in damage in the fiery incident, according to a police report.
Most of the damage was done to the front of the building.
Officers responded to the scene on East Main Street around 1:40 p.m.
Police said they do not have a suspect at this time and have yet to rule out arson.
Investigators do not believe DSS was the target of the fire, but rather the cart’s owner, Michael Todd Wilson.
The incident remains under investigation.
