Alive After Five concert series kicks off Thursday

LTN Staff Reports

There’s only one day left until Lincoln County’s most popular summer concert series kicks off in the heart of downtown Lincolnton.

The 2013 Alive After Five series will commence 6 p.m. Thursday in front of the courthouse on West Main Street.

The Downtown Development Association (DDA) brings the concert series to the area each year.

From May through September, one band a month will take the stage from 6 to 9 p.m.

The concerts will be the last Thursday of each month and offer local residents a time of relaxation, dancing and fellowship.

According to a DDA press release, Chair Cathy Davis considered the concerts perfect gatherings for chatting with old friends, lounging and listening to good music.

“We anticipate another great year,” she said.

Concert-goers are allowed to bring lawn chairs to the events but not coolers. Beer will be available for $4 per cup, but only cash will be permitted. In addition, DDA will offer additional refreshment options this year from Sweet Fire BBQ.

The following bands will perform at this year’s Alive After Five concert series:

May 30 – Summerdaze

June 27 – Coming Up Brass

July 25 – The Folsom Prison Gang

August 29 – K.R.A.C.E. (Kevin Richardson and Cuttin’ Edge)

September 26 – The Fantastic Shakers
