A Lincoln County man has been charged with first degree murder, the first in the county this year, after allegedly killing his wife with a shotgun on Saturday.
A press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said that Terry Lee White, 54, of 1243 Rose Hill Drive in Lincolnton, called 911 at 12:30 p.m. and said he had shot his wife, Ruby Elizabeth White, 39, and threatened to kill himself.
White was still armed when deputies arrived on the scene. The release said he dropped his weapon but still resisted, forcing officers to use a taser to bring White under control and into custody.
White was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and was placed into the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center without bond.
The Sheriff’s Office said an investigation is continuing, and that the Lincoln County EMS and the Crouse Fire Department also responded to the incident.
