Lincoln Charter drops Swain in baseball playoffs

The Lincoln Charter Eagles defeated the Swain County Maroon Devils in the second round of the 1A state baseball tournament 19-2 on Tuesday.
David Scoggins started on the mound and struck out seven Swain County batters with six hits and one earned run. Christian Hilty came in to close out the game in the seventh inning.
Hilty led Lincoln Charter at the plate with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Scoggins went 1-1 with a home run and two RBIs.
Lincoln Charter travels to Highland Tech for the third round today at 7 p.m.
Highland Tech, of the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference, breezed past Hiwassee Dam 8-0 in the second round on Tuesday.
