United Way of Lincoln County presents awards

The United Way of Lincoln County recently handed out awards during an event celebrating its 2012-2013 campaign.

The award recipients were as follows:

Campaign Chair Award – Dr. Matt Stover

The Leadership Award – Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln

The Corporate Champion – The Timken Company

Greatest Total Contribution – Duke Energy

The Eagle Award – (This award is given to the businesses or organizations whose employees increase their employee giving.) Wal-Mart of Denver, Wal-Mart of Lincolnton, Lincoln County Employees

The Spirit Award – (This award is given to the company or organization who implements new ideas, incentives, company or organization contests, and a heaping dose of spirit to their workplace campaign in an attempt to improve the outcome.) Lincoln County Schools, City of Lincolnton, Carolina Trust Bank

Volunteer of the Year – Mayor John Gilleland

Elliott Beal Award – (This award is one of prestige, named after a longtime volunteer of United Way, and given to a professional volunteer who has gone above and beyond the call of service and dedication to United Way and the community.) Teresa Watson

Outgoing Board Members – Teresa Watson, Wayne Vinzant

Teen Board Volunteer Award – Rebecca Barnes

Cristina Arlow Award – (This was the first year for this award, named after a true leader in the community who passed away. She was involved in various civic groups and nonprofits, in addition to the Literacy Council.) Dr. Elaine Jenkins
