Sue M. Whitworth
Sue M. Whitworth, age 74, of 124 Wesconnett Drive in Charlotte, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Gerald Beardon officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Mt. Holly. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Whitworth was born May 5, 1939 in Gaston County to the late Luther and Genevieve Ballard McClure. She worked as a church secretary for 23 years at Enderly Park Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Hoyle L. Whitworth of the home; one son, Hoyle Lee Whitworth II of the home; and her special Labrador Retriever, Colt.

Shirley Rudisill Mosteller
Mrs. Shirley Rudisill Mosteller, age 78, of 1841 Bill Lynch Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, May 13, 2013.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Riverview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Terrell Robinson and Jeffery Kincaid officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mosteller was born September 23, 1934 in Lincoln County to the late Ernest Hugh and Nell Carter Rudisill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Mosteller. Mrs. Mosteller was retired from textiles. She loved to watch wrestling and making biscuits. Nobody ever went hungry at her house.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Rudisill and wife Thelma of Lincolnton, Harold Stevie Mosteller and wife Vada of Vale; three daughters, Vickie Robinson of Cleveland County, Linda Self of Lincolnton and Teresa Scronce and husband Bradley of Lincolnton; two brothers, Truman Rudisill, Buster Rudisill and sister Martha Wyant; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Larry Dean Colvard
Larry Dean Colvard, age 65, of 502 Horseshoe Lake Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, May 13, 2013.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Colvard was born January 3, 1948 in Lincoln County to the late J.B. Colvard Sr. and Virginia Reynolds Colvard. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a stepson, Charlie Crowder; a sister, Joyce Colvard; and two brothers, Donald Lee Colvard and Eddie Colvard. He was the owner of The Car Shop.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Cody Colvard of the home; two daughters, Shelly Lovelace and husband Harold and Hope Lankford and husband Robbie, all of Cherryville; three brothers, Jewel Lee Colvard and wife Susan and Bobby Ray Colvard and wife Kawna, all of Lincolnton, and J.B. “Babe” Colvard Jr. and wife Revonda of Taylorsville; a sister, Jeannie Colvard Cherry and husband Randy of Lincolnton; sister-in-law Shirley Cody Dellinger and husband Bud of Crouse; and a grandson, Cameron Lovelace and fiancée Jeannie Zazzarino, both of Mooresville.

Joseph Clarence ‘J.C.’ Willis Jr.
Joseph Clarence “J.C.” Willis Jr., 72, of Maiden passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
Born December 31, 1940 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Joseph Clarence Willis Sr. and the late Junie Dellinger Willis. J.C. was a member of St. Paul’s UMC and attended Liberty Baptist Church in Maiden; he was in the construction business and was owner and operator of Willis Welding. J.C. was a blessing to people because of his ability and desire to help anyone that needed help. He will be missed.
In addition to his parents, his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Cooper Willis, an infant son and two sisters; Macel Beard and Lorene Laney preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Willis and wife Kim of Maiden, Mike Willis and wife Barbara of Maiden; two daughters, Susan Beal of Vale, Debbie Stiles and husband, Tommy Stiles of Lincolnton; one sister, Margaret Helms of Asheville; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 17, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Living Word Church in Maiden with Rev. Larry Blakley and Rev. Rick Haug officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Living Word Church in Maiden.

Jimmie Allen Johnson, 93, of 7014 Lackey Road, Vale, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at his residence.
Born April 18, 1920 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Zeb Vance Johnson and Ola Marie Poole Johnson. He was retired from Mohican Mills and was a member of Norman’s Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson served in the US Army during WWII.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Lackey Johnson; son, Jimmie D. Johnson; five brothers, Thomas, Charles, Morris, Robert and Darlin Johnson and a granddaughter, Deana Leatherman.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Johnson and wife, Diane, and Ronald Johnson all of Vale; brother, Kenneth Johnson of Lincolnton; three sisters, Louise Yandle and Marie Avery both of Lincolnton and Shirlene Hartis and husband, Roy of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Nile, Cody, Randai, Stephanie, William, Thomas, Brandy and Kevin; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Jeremiah, Darian, Zach, Callie, Isaac, Graca, Gabe, Kelsey, Jesse, Payton, Braley and Faith; and three great-great grandchildren, Niko, Ryder and Jaylen.
Visitation will be held this evening from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church, Lawndale. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church, Lawndale with Rev. Keith Huss and Rev. Cecil Buff officiating. Burial will be at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawndale.
